Indeed, it no exaggeration to say that it is revisionist history masquerading as journalism.

Crucially it omits any mention of the fact that the UK, the US and France, played key roles in toppling President Gaddafi. This involved launching more than 110 Tomahawk missiles at regime targets while French warplanes struck pro-Gaddafi forces.

Under such sustained bombardment it was only a matter of time before Gaddafi’s forces buckled and the Western-backed rebels prevailed. Thereafter chaos ensued and in the years that followed Libyans had good reason to lament Gaddafi’s overthrow.

As we commented in ‘War weary Libyans miss life under Gaddafi’:

Life under Gaddafi may not have been perfect but it was certainly a better than it is now. Indeed that may have been the prime reason for Gaddafi’s overthrow. Because even while the rebels were struggling to oust the Libyan autocrat plans were in motion to establish a new Central Bank of Libya.

Indeed, before the Western backed Libyan rebels murdered Gaddafi moves were underway to set up a Rothschild styled Central Bank of Libya.

The following Guardian report makes no mention of any of this.
