Like Presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama and Trump such displays are now EXPECTED of Western leaders. Boris Johnson’s stepmother Jenny, the second wife of his father Stanley, is the stepdaughter of Edward Sieff, the former chairman of Marks & Spencer. In other words Johnson is part of a closely connected Jewish-British elite.<\/p><\/div>\n

Christians in the Gaza Strip are not allowed to visit holy cities such as Bethlehem and Jerusalem to celebrate Christmas this year. Israel says so.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gisha<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, an Israeli rights group, said the ban points \u201cto the intensifying of access restrictions between the two parts of the Palestinian territory\u201d, calling it \u201ca deepening of Israel\u2019s separation policy\u201d for the West Bank and Gaza. Christian leaders in Jerusalem complain: \u201cOther people around the world are allowed to travel to Bethlehem. We think Gaza\u2019s Christians should have that right, too.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

I well remember Gaza\u2019s Catholic priest telling me, some years ago, that he hadn\u2019t seen his family for nine years. They lived just a few miles away in the West Bank but the occupying Israeli authorities warned that if he left Gaza they would not allow him back and his \u201cflock\u201d would be without a minister.<\/span><\/p>\n

If that isn\u2019t religious warfare I don\u2019t know what is.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, sinister moves are afoot in the UK to preserve Israel\u2019s impunity for its crimes against the Palestinians and its contempt for international law. Boris Johnson\u2019s<\/strong><\/span><\/a> new government is to pass legislation banning public bodies from imposing their own boycotts, disinvestment or sanctions (BDS) campaigns against foreign countries, including Israel, on the grounds that these \u201cundermine community cohesion\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Where\u2019s the harm in BDS<\/strong><\/span><\/a>? It\u2019s a peaceful response to Israel\u2019s thuggery. It urges non-violent pressure on Israel until it complies with international law by meeting three demands:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Ending its unlawful occupation and colonisation of all Arab lands and dismantling the Wall (international law recognises the West Bank including East Jerusalem, Gaza and the Syrian Golan Heights as occupied by Israel).<\/span>
    \n2. Recognising the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality.<\/span>
    \n3. Respecting, protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN Resolution 194.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
