Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n, who has repeatedly said that marriage is between a man and a woman, recently launched a\u00a0Family First policy\u00a0aimed at helping traditional families and boosting birth rates.<\/span><\/p>\n In August, Istv\u00e1n Boldog, a member of parliament from the ruling Fidesz party leader called for a boycott of Coca-Cola over an ad campaign featuring queers kissing. And in May, the speaker of the Hungarian parliament, L\u00e1szl\u00f3 K\u00f6v\u00e9r, said same-sex adoption is morally equivalent to paedophilia.<\/span><\/p>\n Queer activists warn of a global denial of queer rights, from\u00a0Brazil\u00a0to\u00a0Russia. In the United States, an annual survey has\u00a0shown\u00a0young people\u2019s tolerance of LGBT people falling in recent years.<\/span><\/p>\n The scandal recalls\u00a0opposition to Eurovision in Russia<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, where a member of parliament called for the country to withdraw in 2014, saying that participating would \u201ccontradict the path of cultural and moral renewal that Russia stands on today\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n The European Broadcasting Union, which runs Eurovision, said: \u201cIt is not uncommon for EBU members to have breaks in participation in the Eurovision song contest.
