<\/a>A man by the name of Antonio Garc\u00eda Martinez who used to work for Facebook has since quit his job and gone off-grid in the wilderness of northern Washington<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, all because of what he saw happening in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) while working in Silicon Valley.<\/span><\/p>\nMartinez says that, based on what\u2019s now being developed and forced upon civilization by the tech overlords, it\u2019s only a matter of time before everything collapses, blindsiding the general public that\u2019s gotten used to tech machines as a key part of their daily lives.<\/span><\/p>\n Technology is \u201cadvancing\u201d so fast these days that Martinez says he\u2019s utterly terrified of its implications, which is why he decided to purchase a bucket toilet and an \u201cassault\u201d weapon, and move into the woods north of Seattle.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cYou may not believe it but it\u2019s coming, and it\u2019s coming in the form of a self-driving truck that\u2019s going to run you over,\u201d Martinez told BBC News<\/em> as part of an upcoming two-part documentary entitled, \u201cSecrets of Silicon Valley\u201d that will soon air on the British network.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWithin 30 years, half of humanity won\u2019t have a job,\u201d Martinez contends about the incoming robot economy that\u2019s being developed by multinational corporations like Facebook. \u201cIt could get ugly \u2013 there could be a revolution.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n While technocrats like Mark Zuckerberg think that a future run by AI robots will be some kind of technological utopia, Martinez disagrees, as does Elon Musk of Tesla<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n One of the biggest problems is that AI robots are replacing actual human workers in many industries, which is putting thousands, and soon to be millions<\/em>, of people out of work, possibly for good.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cYou don\u2019t realize it but we\u2019re in a race between technology and politics, and technologists are winning,\u201d says Martinez. \u201cThey\u2019re way ahead.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThey will destroy jobs and disrupt economies before we even react to them and we really should be thinking about that. I\u2019ve seen what the world will look like in five to 10 years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n What will it look like, you might be asking? It\u2019ll look like something out of 1984<\/em>, or perhaps a quintessential sci-fi movie.
