Given his support for Israel and his daughter and son-in-law\u2019s ties to the Chabad movement<\/span><\/a>, the Anne Frank Center\u2019s accusing Donald Trump of \u201canti-Semitism” says more about the center itself than it does about President Trump.<\/h5>\n
Even if we ignore questions about the authenticity of Anne Frank\u2019s Diary \u2013 such as why parts of the original manuscript were written in ballpoint pen<\/span><\/a>, when ballpoint was only invented after WWII — we should ask why Donald Trump, of all people, is being accused of \u201canti-Semitism\u201d.<\/h5>\n
The accusation is patently absurd. No matter what you think of President Trump and his policies, the Anne Frank Center risks further tarnishing its already questionable reputation with such allegations.<\/h5>\n

Anne Frank Center accuses Donald Trump of anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial<\/h2>\n

The Anne Frank Center has hit back at Donald Trump in an ongoing row over anti-Semitism, accusing the US President of being a Holocaust denier.<\/span><\/p>\n

Steven Goldstein, the civil rights organisation\u2019s Executive Director, said the Republican \u201cquacks, walks and talks like an anti-Semite. That makes him an anti-Semite\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

It came after a speech by Mr Trump on the topic of hate crime was dismissed by the Anne Frank Center as \u201cpathetic\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s remarkable\u201d, Mr Goldstein\u00a0told MSNBC. \u201cAnd what\u2019s more remarkable about Donald Trump\u2019s appearance\u2026\u00a0was his complete tin ear to the perception, that is accurate, that he is anti-Semitic.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere Donald Trump was this morning and he expected, like Moses, the waters to part because he said anti-Semitism was bad.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Center had earlier issued a statement criticising Donald Trump\u2019s remarks, in which he called anti-Jewish attacks \u201chorrible\u201d, \u201cpainful\u201d and \u201cvery sad\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the statement, Mr Goldstein\u00a0called the Republican\u2019s comments \u201ca pathetic asterisk of condescension after weeks in which he and his staff have committed grotesque acts and omissions reflecting Antisemitism\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That led Mr Trump\u2019s Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, to tell reporters he \u201cwished [the Anne Frank Center] had praised the President for his leadership in this area\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully as time continues to go by, they will recognise his commitment to civil rights, to voting rights, to equality for all Americans\u201d, Mr Spicer added.<\/span><\/p>\n

But Mr Goldstein\u00a0claimed that President Trump\u00a0was guilty of \u201cHolocaust denial\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDonald Trump refused to include Jews in Holocaust remembrance\u201d he said, in reference to a White House statement on Holocaust Memorial Day that did not mention Jews.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDenying Jews had a particular hurt in the Holocaust is nothing short of Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism at its worst.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis weekend our organisation and others begged Doanld Trump \u2013 begged him \u2013 to comment on the bombings and bomb threats of [Jewish Community Centres] He wouldn\u2019t do it. He wouldn\u2019t talk about the desecration of 170 Jewish [gravestones] in St Louis.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2026he read soullessly this statement [saying] \u2018anti-Semitism is a very bad thing\u2019. Every Jewish person, like myself, who has a conscience should be shocked. Here\u2019s a man who doesn\u2019t know how to stick to a teleprompter. Today he stuck to a teleprompter because he probably couldn\u2019t say the words from his heart.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking during a White House conference last week, Mr Trump angrily dismissed a question about whether anti-Semitic attacks were being carried out in his name.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSit down\u2026quiet, quiet, quiet\u201d, Mr Trump told the Jewish reporter who asked the question.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c\u201dSo here\u2018s the story folks. No. 1, I am the least anti-Semitic person that you\u2018ve ever seen in your entire life. No. 2, racism. The least racist person.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut let me just tell you something: I hate the charge. I find it repulsive.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
