On January 6 2017 this author concluded<\/strong><\/span><\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n When Hillary Clinton was defeated in the U.S. presidential election the relevant powers launched a campaign to delegitimize the President elect Donald Trump.<\/span><\/p>\n The ultimate aim of the cabal is to kick him out of office and have a reliable replacement, like the Vice-President elect Pence, take over. Should that not be possible it is hoped<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>that the delegitimization will make it impossible for Trump to change major policy trajectories especially in foreign policy. A main issue here is the reorientation of the U.S. military complex and its NATO proxies from the war of terror towards a direct confrontation with main powers like Russia and China.<\/span> One part of the still ongoing deligitimization campaign was the FBI investigation of alleged Russian connections of four members of the Trump election campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n The Inspector General of the U.S. Justice Department Michael Horowitz has investigated the FBI operation against the election campaign of Donald Trump. Yesterday he published his report, Review of Four FISA Applications and Other Aspects of the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane Investigation<\/a><\/strong><\/span> (pdf). It is 480 pages long and quite thorough but unfortunately very limited in its scope.<\/span><\/p>\n Horowitz finds that the FBI was within the law when it opened the investigation but that the FBI’s applications to the FISA court, which decides if the FBI can spy on someone’s communications, were based on lies and utterly flawed.<\/span><\/p>\n Your host unfortunately lacked the time so far to read more than the executive summary.
