The Iranian defence minister is probably correct when he says that Trump\u2019s recent threats against Iran are \u201cbluff\u201d. There are two reasons for this.<\/h5>\n
First and very obviously, Trump is now preparing for the 2020 presidential election and war with wont help his prospects for re-election. So Trump is unlikely to authorise any military action against Iran before November 2020.<\/h5>\n

Secondly, Iran has been steadily developing its defence capability, particularly its air defences because it knows that any Western military campaign would be spearheaded by air strikes. Given that Iran now the radars and anti aircraft missiles to effectively counter Western air strikes, it wouldn\u2019t be a repeat of Iraq in 2003.<\/h5>\n
In fact there is a real possibility that with weapons like the newly introduced Bavar 373 Iran could thwart a U.S. air campaign. Or take such a toll of U.S. aircraft that it would force Washington to the negotiating table.<\/h5>\n
Trump\u2019s military commanders know this and we strongly suspect that they’ve advised him to avoid direct military confrontation with Iran, at least for the time being.<\/h5>\n

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami says US President Donald Trump\u2019s recent threat of a military attack against Tehran is only a bluff to cover Washington\u2019s mortification for its failures. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems more like a bluff to cover their chagrin\u201d for their failed policies, General Hatami told reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The minister\u2019s remarks came in response to Trump who said on Monday that the US may get into new wars, when asked about Washington’s foreign policy priorities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trump insisted that he is working to bring home American soldiers but warned the US may soon enter into new military conflicts.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe may have to get into wars.\u00a0 We\u2019re better prepared than we\u2019ve ever been.\u00a0If Iran does something, they\u2019ll be hit like they\u2019ve never been hit before.\u00a0I mean, we have things that we\u2019re looking at,\u201d he said in a cabinet meeting. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian minister warned the US about a crushing response in case of making the mistake of taking a measure against Iran. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf they make a mistake, they will receive a response that will make them more ashamed than the previous measures which brought about humiliation to them,\u201d Hatami said. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He said that the Iranian Armed Forces stand fully ready to protect the nation and the country\u2019s borders and will give a crushing response to any threats or excessive demands.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri also underscored the Islamic Republic\u2019s\u00a0deterrent power on Tuesday, warning that enemies will have to pay heavy costs if they carry out any act of aggression against the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Such a confrontation, he added, would merely bring the enemies heavy casualties and humiliation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The chief commander of Iran’s Army also said earlier this month that the country will give a crushing response to any threat posed by enemies at any level.<\/span><\/p>\n

Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi said the Iranian Armed Forces have simulated “the most severe and worst-case\u201d threats against the country, and are ready to respond in kind and defend the Iranian borders, skies and nation as well as the Islamic Revolution\u2019s ideals.<\/span><\/p>\n
