Look at this<\/a><\/span> from a Guardian<\/em> journalist – an oxymoron if there ever was one. Especially when said journalist is an affirmative action female from Nigeria. Logic, consistency and self-awareness are not to be expected from such people. But the following still takes some beating.<\/h5>\nApparently women’s magazines have succumbed in reassuring numbers to the ‘get woke, go broke’ fate. Readership has plummeted and many household names have disappeared down the tube. “Cosmopolitan<\/em> saw its print circulation drop by a third in the last half of 2018; weeklies Woman<\/em> and Woman\u2019s Own<\/em> were down 20% and 19% respectively. Now magazine dropped 43%.” Now get this: “The closure of Teen Vogue<\/em>\u2019s print publication was met with widespread outrage, after we had watched the magazine\u00a0mature into a politically engaged tome for pubescent readers<\/strong>\u00a0who cared about fashion, but also wanted to ensure that the climate crisis hadn\u2019t scorched the world in which it could exist.” Oh ma’ achin’ sides!\u00a0 “Although glossy magazines are the worst affected, online women\u2019s publications have not escaped \u2013 the Debrief<\/em> and the Pool<\/em> suffered the same fate. The closure of Lena Dunham\u2019s email-based Lenny Letter<\/em> showed that even a famous CEO and acclaimed writers couldn\u2019t ensure a publication\u2019s longevity.”<\/h5>\nAnd this: “The sad thing is that the current\u00a0purge<\/strong>” – yes, she actually wrote that word – “is happening at a time when women\u2019s magazines are less sexist and more progressive than they ever have been.\u00a0\u00a0Last year\u2019s September issues made history with virtually every one featuring a black cover star.” After which it went bust.
