Behavioral scientist Magnus Soderlund suggested that cannibalism\u00a0was an answer to climate change. It\u2019s another example of mass media rationalizing cannibalism to the masses.<\/h5>\n

The Stockholm fair recently held a \u201cGastro Summit\u201d event which discussed the \u201cfuture of food\u201d. And the future of food sounds terrible. Indeed, the summit featured a seminar led by Stockholm School of Economics professor Magnus Soderlund titled \u201cCan You Imagine Eating Human Flesh?\u201d where cannibalism was promoted to fight climate change, greenhouse emissions, and to encourage sustainability. Some of the topics addressed during the seminar were \u201cIs Cannibalism the solution to food sustainability in the future?\u201d and \u201cAre we humans too selfish to live sustainably?\u201d<\/h5>\n
On the Swedish television channel TV4<\/a><\/span>, Soderlund stated that climate change will ultimately force people to \u201ctry foods they currently wouldn\u2019t think of eating\u201d such as pets, insects, and human flesh. To truly take on the effects of climate change, Soderlund states that we must \u201cawake the idea\u201d of eating human flesh and that it should be discussed as an option in the future.<\/h5>\n

While he believes that cannibalism is the \u201cfuture of food\u201d, he is aware that work needs to be done to address the \u201cwidespread taboo\u201d against cannibalism and the \u201cconservative attitudes\u201d of the masses.<\/h5>\n
Soderlund believes that people are not cannibals due to \u201cselfishness\u201d. However, as an expert in behavior, he thinks that people can ultimately be \u201ctricked\u201d into \u201cmaking the right decisions\u201d. According to him, if people were gradually be exposed to cannibalism, the idea could become mainstream.<\/h5>\n
The scientist nuanced that he was not advocating \u201call-out cannibalism\u201d, but simply the eating people that are already dead.<\/h5>\n
When asked if he would eat human flesh, he answered that he would be willing to at least taste it.<\/h5>\n
Soderlund plans to lecture more on the topic in the future. He is also looking to promote the most bone-chilling term in human history: \u201cMannisko-k\u00f6tts branschen\u201d. That means \u201cthe human flesh industry\u201d.<\/h5>\n
