Numerous reports in the independent media have claimed that the U.S. was covertly transporting ISIS<\/a> <\/span>(otherwise known as ISIL or Daesh) militants to Afghanistan. Although the Western authorities ignored such claims or officially denied them, thousands of militants<\/a> <\/span>were allegedly secretly transported to Afghanistan.<\/h5>\n
It has long been claimed in the independent media that ISIS was a Western creation<\/a><\/span>. Now we can see why. First they were used in Syria in a failed attempt to oust President Assad.<\/h5>\n
The West hasn\u2019t finished with its terrorist proxies, however. Having been covertly transported to Afghanistan<\/span><\/a>, ISIS has now forced the Taliban into negotiations with the U.S. Before their arrival this would have been unthinkable but things have changed. Not only has it led the Taliban into negotiations it has opened the way for the U.S. to withdraw its forces without losing too much face.<\/h5>\n
In other words the use of terrorist proxies has now become an integral, but covert and unpublicised, part of U.S. foreign policy. So much so that it\u2019s almost routine now.<\/h5>\n
We\u2019ve edited out the first half of Robert Fisk\u2019s article, which is basically a history lesson, and cut to the relevant portion.<\/h5>\n
Finally, readers will note that while Fisk writes: \u201cever since Isis migrated from Iraq and Syria<\/a> to Afghanistan\u201d he doesn’t mention how they ‘migrated’ there or why. He must know of allegations<\/span><\/a> that the U.S. transported militants to Afghanistan but he doesn\u2019t even allude to this.<\/h5>\n
Instead he waffles on about what was happening in the northwestern corner of Britain’s Indian empire over a century ago. In plain language, this is called lying by omission. Yet Fisk is one of the most ‘highly regraded’ journalists in the Western media today.<\/h5>\n

A century after the Anglo-Afghan peace treaty, the Fourth Afghan War is about to escalate<\/h2>\n

\u2026. ever since Isis migrated from Iraq and Syria<\/a> to Afghanistan (it was they, of course, who suicide bombed the Shia wedding in Kabul last weekend), the so-called Islamic State has become Washington\u2019s target-of-choice in Afghanistan. And the Taliban, believe it or not, are America\u2019s new best friend. So the talks in Doha revolve around the Taliban\u2019s willingness \u2013 even its promise,\u00a0if such a notion can be entertained even by a US president who has completely lost his marbles \u2013 to crush Isis, talk to Ghani and allow America\u2019s 14,000 troops to go home.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oh yes, and the Americans would apparently release \u2013 whether Ghani likes it or not \u2013 13,000 Taliban prisoners. Almost two decades\u00a0of war have cost the Americans well over 2,000\u00a0US military lives. Three months of the Third Afghan War, 100\u00a0years ago, cost the British and their Indian allies 236 dead. Almost all of the Afghan casualties then were soldiers of the Amir.<\/span><\/p>\n

But since 2001, the Afghans themselves have lost around 31,000 innocent souls. And if Khalilzad has his way and secures the Taliban\u2019s promise\u00a0\u2013 that word again \u2013 to liquidate Isis, every man, woman and child in Afghanistan stands to be betrayed. That\u2019s certainly the way the Washington Post<\/em> sees it. Its team of reporters have unearthed enough evidence to convince their editors that Khalilzad\u2019s commitments from the Taliban are weak and will only involve \u201cnegotiations\u201d between the Islamists and Ghani\u2019s government about a political settlement and a vague promise of a ceasefire.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s all back to American \u201cnational interest\u201d: bring Trump\u2019s boys back home and cross our fingers that the good old let-bygones-be-bygones Taliban will crush the thousands of Isis fighters prowling the deserts and mountains of Afghanistan and thus prevent them striking at mainland USA in a second version of 9\/11.<\/span><\/p>\n

Be sure that many millions of dollars will be made available for this forlorn project \u2013 and even a few American anti-terrorist\u00a0squads \u2013\u00a0before the US has to come back and fight part two of the Fourth Afghan War. Or, if they\u00a0take up the offer of help from some of America\u2019s most ruthless \u201ccontractors\u201d, rely\u00a0on mercenaries to brutalise Afghanistan all over again on behalf of democracy, freedom and all the other products on Washington\u2019s military supermarket shelves.<\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s only one thing that the reports from Doha don\u2019t mention: the Durand line \u2013\u00a0the straggling, perplexing, outrageous border more than 1,400 miles in length which Sir Mortimer Durand drew in 1893 between British India (now Pakistan<\/a>) and Afghanistan.<\/span><\/p>\n

The line, like all colonial frontiers, bisected people, tribes, families. It divided the home of the Pashtun people \u2013 Pashtunistan \u2013 and today\u2019s Taliban are Pashtuns. Now that\u2019s something to reflect upon. If Pashtunistan ever exists as a state, it will take part of Afghanistan and part of Pakistan to create it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Was that discussed at the secret Doha talks? Pakistan would want to know if it was. And what would Isis have to say about that? It is interesting, and quite sinister, that Sunday\u2019s suicide bomber at the wedding house in Kabul came from \u2013 Pakistan.<\/span><\/p>\n
