Two prominent MSNBC hosts pushed conspiracy theories in the immediate aftermath of accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein’s apparent suicide on Saturday. A Joe Scarborough, who hosts “Morning Joe,” invoked Russia while Joy Reid, host of “AM Joy,” pointed toward Attorney General William Barr.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Scarborough say?<\/h2>\n

“A guy who had information that would have destroyed rich and powerful men’s lives ends up dead in his jail cell,” he wrote on Twitter. “How predictably…Russian.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“He reportedly tried to kill himself two weeks ago. And is allowed to finish the job now? Bulls**t,” Scarborough\u00a0added in a separate tweet<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Powerful Democratic and Republican figures breathing a huge sigh of relief\u2014as well as a Harvard professor or two,” he\u00a0later said<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

What did Reid say?<\/h2>\n

“This is somebody who is not only high-profile, who not only knew a lot of high-profile people … who was friends with the president of the United States, who flew a previous president of the United States around on his plane, who was alleged to have trafficked girls to a member of the royal family of Britain,” Reid said on her show.<\/span><\/p>\n

“This is a famous person who is now in prison, he knows a lot about a lot of people … his only out at this point would be to talk about those people,” she continued.<\/span><\/p>\n

“And then you throw in the fact that … this is a facility under the control of the Department of Justice, and\u00a0this<\/em>\u00a0Department of Justice does not exactly inspire confidence,” Reid added.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Let’s just be blunt: William Barr’s Justice Department is not one that you can readily simply rely upon and feel confident in,” she went on to say. “So what do we make of all this now that in this federal facility this person was allowed to be alone long enough to either harm himself or killed by someone…”<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end, Reid qualified all of her preceding comments with “we don’t know what happened.”<\/span><\/p>\n
