The following account is from a former inmate of the Metropolitan Correction Center in lower Manhattan, where Jeffrey Epstein was found unresponsive Saturday, and declared dead<\/a><\/strong><\/span> at a hospital of an apparent suicide. The ex-convict, who spoke to The Post\u2019s <\/em>Brad Hamilton<\/em><\/strong> and <\/em>Bruce Golding<\/em><\/strong> on the condition of anonymity, spent several months in the 9 South special housing unit for high-profile prisoners awaiting trial \u2014 like Epstein.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s no way that man could have killed himself. I\u2019ve done too much time in those units. It\u2019s an impossibility.<\/span><\/p>\n

Between the floor and the ceiling is like eight or nine feet. There\u2019s no way for you to connect to anything.<\/span><\/p>\n

You have sheets, but they\u2019re paper level, not strong enough. He was 200 pounds \u2014 it would never happen.<\/span><\/p>\n

When you\u2019re on suicide watch, they put you in this white smock, a straight jacket. They know a person cannot be injurious to themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

The clothing they give you is a jump-in uniform. Everything is a dark brown color.<\/span><\/p>\n

Could he have done it from the bed? No sir. There\u2019s a steel frame, but you can\u2019t move it. There\u2019s no light fixture. There\u2019s no bars.<\/span><\/p>\n

They don\u2019t give you enough in there that could successfully create an instrument of death. You want to write a letter, they give you rubber pens and maybe once a week a piece of paper.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nothing hard or made of metal.<\/span><\/p>\n

And there\u2019s a cop at the door about every nine minutes, whether you\u2019re on suicide watch or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s up to 80 people there. They could put two in cell. It\u2019s one or two, but I\u2019ll never believe this guy had a cellmate. He was too blown up.<\/span><\/p>\n

The damage that unit can do to someone.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s like you\u2019re an animal and you\u2019ve been brought into a kennel. A guy like Jeffrey, it\u2019s like, \u201cHoly sh-t.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

I told my parents not to come there. God wasn\u2019t in the building.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve had some heavy incidents in the building. What happened is permanent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of the guards are on a major power trip. They know guys there are suffering. They know something the rest of the world hasn\u2019t seen, that a place like this exists in this country, and they get off on it.<\/span><\/p>\n

If the guards see that the guy is breaking, they\u2019re going to help you break.<\/span><\/p>\n

But it\u2019s my firm belief that Jeffrey Epstein did not commit suicide. It just didn\u2019t happen.<\/span><\/p>\n
