Click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\"><strong>The Swedish municipality of\u00a0Bengtsfors has petitioned the national government for aid due to massive costs incurred taking in more migrants than the municipality could afford.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Local Moderate Party politician Stig Bertilsson said the multi-page letter was clear in identifying the cause of the budget deficit as being related to the large number of \u201cnew Swedes\u201d taken in and requested aid to cover the costs, SVT <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.svt.se\/nyheter\/lokalt\/vast\/kommunalradet-i-bengtsfors-vadjar-om-ekonomisk-hjalp\">reports<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">\u201cCosts in municipalities that have received new arrivals have continued to be substantial even when government revenues have stopped.\u00a0This creates a large negative hole in the municipal cash register,\u201d Bertilsson said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">When asked about tax revenues from new migrants that could bridge the deficit gap, Bertilsson said that in the long run he hoped there would be a rise in revenues but so far there has not been one, adding that the Swedish labour market \u201chas a long way to go\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Unemployment figures for migrants in Sweden are in fact <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2018\/08\/16\/swedish-unemployment-figures-reveal-extent-of-migrant-joblessness\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>much higher<\/strong><\/span><\/a> than those for native Swedes, with a report last summer showing a 19.9 per cent unemployment rate for migrants compared to just 3.6 per cent for natives<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Swedish Municipalities May Be Forced to Raise Taxes to Pay for Mass Migration  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3ws3eQdzxJ\">https:\/\/t.co\/3ws3eQdzxJ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/971460484791656448?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 7, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">In the letter to the national government, the local government claims that raising taxes to cover the costs will not be a solution as local tax rates are already high at 22.9 per cent, the tenth-highest overall in Sweden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Last year, a report from\u00a0the Swedish\u00a0National Institute of Economic Research (KI) claimed that many municipalities across the country would be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2018\/03\/07\/swedish-municipalities-may-forced-raise-taxes-pay-mass-migration\/\">forced to raise taxes<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, specifically stating mass migration costs as the reason.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">\u201cWe are facing some years of demographic challenge, which makes me a little worried that the municipalities may be forced to raise taxes,\u201d said Urban Hansson Brusewitz, the head of KI.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Bertilsson has proposed that Swedish municipalities should look at a system of equalisation payments among municipalities in order for those with higher average tax yields to help those where residents have lower average incomes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Such a plan has already been proposed and was discussed last spring by the municipal governments in order to help more rural, lower-populated areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Switzerland: Over 80 Percent of Somali Migrants on Welfare <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/V7abxZ0ixc\">https:\/\/t.co\/V7abxZ0ixc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1123144477319811077?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 30, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2019\/08\/03\/swedish-municipality-took-too-many-migrants-faces-bankruptcy\/\">Source <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ordinary Swedes should hold their government to account for this.
