Click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">A bizarre gold-domed, blue and white-striped building on Jeffrey Epstein\u2019s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands differed significantly from plans submitted to local authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The structure, referred to informally as a \u201ctemple,\u201d was not built even remotely like the music pavilion plans submitted to the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Resources, <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/jeffrey-epstein-s-bizarre-blue-striped-building-private-island-raised-n1037511\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>NBC<\/strong><\/span><\/a> reported Thursday. Flanked by gold-painted statues, the mysterious building has inspired conspiracy theories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The New York financier Jeffrey Epstein, was arrested last month for sex trafficking of minors, owned two islands, Little St. James and Big St. James, both located in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Locals preferred the name \u201cPedophile Island,\u201d according to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apnews.com\/cd794044e8be4e619093582d6d3355d2\">the Associated Press<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, and they told <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/2019\/07\/horrors-of-jeffrey-epstein-private-island\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Vanity Fair<\/strong><\/span><\/a> that Epstein repeatedly brought girls to the island who \u201ccouldn\u2019t have been over 16.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">At least one alleged victim, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, has claimed she was abused on the island while still a minor. In a 2015 lawsuit, she claims that she had been forced to participate in \u201can orgy with numerous other under-aged girls\u201d and to have sexual relations with Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, according to <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2015\/jan\/02\/prince-andrew-named-us-lawsuit-underage-sex-allegations\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>the Guardian<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">It is unclear whether Epstein and his guests used the \u201ctemple\u201d as a site to abuse minors. In the plans submitted to the Department of Planning and Resources in 2010, the building was going to act as a pavilion housing a grand piano, according to NBC. It bears little semblance to the seemingly 30-foot-tall square structure that was constructed, according to NBC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The entrance to the blue and white-striped \u201ctemple\u201d was flanked by gold-painted statues, and the building is seemingly entered through a massive wooden door. A gold dome topped the structure, until a hurricane blew it off in 2017, the building is also surrounded by a terrace with a labyrinth motif, according to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/nymag.com\/intelligencer\/2019\/07\/everything-we-know-about-jeffrey-epsteins-private-islands.html\">New York Magazine<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Notably, the door to the building seems to lock from the outside.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">\u201cIt\u2019s styled like what you might see on a castle, with what appears to be a reinforcing lock bar across the face,\u201d contractor James Booth told Business Insider. \u201cWhat makes it peculiar is that if you wanted to keep people out, the bar would be placed inside the building, [but the] locking bar appears to be placed on the outside \u2026 as if it were intended to lock people in.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">This is not the only time Epstein has defied the\u00a0U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Resources.
