including the the US and the Ukraine and a\u00a0dozen other NATO allies &#8211; are taking part in the 12-day Sea Breeze 2019 exercise, which began in the northwestern part of the Black Sea on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">A total of\u00a0 32 warships and 24 aircraft will take part in the show of strength\u00a0 &#8211; with HMS Duncan sailing into the Black Sea alongside HMCS Toronto of the Royal Canadian Navy, whose Commodore Jos\u00e9e Kurtz\u00a0 is currently in command of\u00a0 Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2).\u00a0 They were joined by the\u00a0 Turkish frigate TCG Turgutreis\u00a0 and Romanian frigate ROS Regele Ferdinand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The Russian military says it is monitoring the exercise and has voiced concern about previous NATO drills near its borders, saying they threaten its security,<a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2019\/07\/02\/sea-breeze-exercise-underway-in-the-black-sea-with-ukraine-nato-allies\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> reports US website Navy Times<\/strong><\/span>.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Conversely, NATO allies have expressed worries about Russian military manoeuvres in the Black Sea &#8211; Viktoria (@Ukropo4kA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ukropo4kA\/status\/1146716303618641925?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 4, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Russian language news website <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/vestnikkavkaza.net\/news\/Russian-Black-Sea-Fleet-monitors-NATO-ships-in-Black-Sea.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>vestnikkavkaza.net<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span> reports that the Russian National Defense Management Center has said &#8220;ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are monitoring the British destroyer and the Canadian frigate that entered the Black Sea waters on July 2&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The\u00a0 Sea Breeze 2019 exercise is taking place while the Royal Navy is also involved in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouthherald.co.uk\/news\/local-news\/royal-navy-commanders-say-full-3041917\">another operation which Russia has been closely monitoring <\/a><\/strong><\/span>&#8211;\u00a0 Operation Baltic Protector &#8211; the Royal Navy&#8217;s ongoing mission to\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouthherald.co.uk\/news\/uk-world-news\/royal-navy-shows-resolve-protect-2919184\">protect the Baltic and Barents\u00a0 seas<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">As part of Operation Baltic Protector, the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force\u00a0 (JEF) Maritime Task Group has seen as many as\u00a0 4,000 troops -including 1,100 Royal Marines &#8211;\u00a0 and 44 ships from seven countries, conduct wargames in the region in recent weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Baltic Protector is a two-month deployment that sends a message to President Putin about the UK&#8217;s commitment to keeping the Baltic sea safe.\u00a0 Plymouth-based HMS Albion and 3 Commando Brigade&#8217;s Royal Marine Amphibious Task Group\u00a0 (ATG) have been &#8216;at heart&#8217; of the deployment so far &#8211; which has seen\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouthherald.co.uk\/news\/uk-world-news\/royal-navy-marines-training-former-3021293\">Royal Marines practice Commando raids<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0with allied forces &#8211; and the\u00a0<a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouthherald.co.uk\/news\/local-news\/royal-navy-completes-mission-impossible-3013878\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Royal Navy Commando Helicopter Force\u00a0 hunt down submarines<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Commodore James Parkin, the Commander of the ATG has revealed these exercises have all been closely watched by Russia &#8211;
