I had just seen the movie, “The Gingerbread Man.” The girl in my dream looked like actress Embeth Davidtz (above) <\/em><\/p>\n

My biggest regret in life is loving women.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Romantic love is a delusion mostly\u00a0<\/strong>based on our powerful sexual and emotional instincts.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most people, men or women, are not that lovable.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Carl Jung said that if you take away God, people worship false Gods (i.e. sex and romance.)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

(((Hollywood\u00a0<\/strong>Movies))) program us to seek<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0romantic love above all else.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0Romantic love is\u00a0an ersatz religion<\/a> to teach us to seek ourselves in another person<\/em><\/u> instead of in Self-development.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

They taught us that sex is a “mystical experience,” the best life offers. “Sexual intercourse is a sacrament.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Orgasm is union with the universe.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The quest for our “soul mate” or “other half” leads to arrested development in men (and women?)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The tendency to idealize other people is a mistaken quest for the God within. This mistake (“transference”) leads to disaster. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The spark of Divinity in our soul is the principle of our self-development. God is our soul mate.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was young again and single. My beautiful girlfriend and I were shopping. I suggested we go back to my apartment. I was feeling loving and wanted to hang out and cuddle. Just be happy together. Sex wasn’t an issue.<\/p>\n

Shortly after arriving, she says she has to leave.<\/p>\n

Thwarted in love. Again.<\/p>\n

In the dream, I press her for an explanation. She doesn’t have one.<\/p>\n

She doesn’t want to be with me. I grant her wish.<\/p>\n

I tell her I’m not interested in games. We’re finished.<\/p>\n

I wake up pleased by my subconscious bravado.<\/p>\n
