<\/a><\/p>\nThe \u201cMy Little Pony\u201d franchise is selling more than plastic toys to little girls.<\/span><\/p>\n A cartoon series based on the Hasbro company\u2019s popular figurines aired an episode in which a same-sex female pony couple take charge of a school-aged pony named Scootaloo. Previously released in Europe, \u201cThe Last Crusade\u201d was broadcast Saturday on the Discovery Channel.<\/span><\/p>\n In an interview with Buzzfeed News<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, writer-producer Michael Vogel said he and co-writer Nicole Dubuc were delighted to introduce a same-sex couple, \u201cAunt Holiday\u201d and \u201cAuntie Lofty,\u201d to the children\u2019s show.<\/span><\/p>\n They had the full permission of the company that owns the \u201cMy Little Pony\u201d franchise.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cNicole and I thought this was a great opportunity to organically introduce an LGBTQ couple in the series, and we asked Hasbro and they approved it,\u201d Vogel said.<\/span><\/p>\n He voiced his belief that \u201cdiversity and representation are important for kids for so many reasons\u201d and said it is his \u201cfirst priority on everything\u201d he works on.<\/span><\/p>\n Although airing the episode in June, known to LGBT activists as \u201cPride Month,\u201d wasn\u2019t intentional, Vogel told a fan on Twitter that \u201cit\u2019s a coincidence that seems like it was meant to be.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n In another tweet<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, he celebrated the introduction of same-sex attracted ponies to the equine cartoon by writing: \u201cHey hey!!! @NicoleDubuc, @joshhaber and I doin what we can to bring more EQuality to EQuestria!! #PrideMonth.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The lesbian characters previously appeared in a \u201cMy Little Pony\u201d book published in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n The \u201cMy Little Pony\u201d toys were first released on the market in the 1980s, and its sales were assisted by a cartoon series based on the toy. In 2010, the brand was rejuvenated when the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series introduced the toy to a new generation of little girls.<\/span><\/p>\n The show also attracted a fan following among adult men<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, who created a subculture based on their shared love for the My Little Pony cartoon and its merchandise. Called \u201cBronies,\u201d the subculture has been featured in two documentaries, \u201cBronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony\u201d (2012) and A Brony Tale (2014). According to the latter film, \u201cMy Little Pony\u201d was originally aimed at children ages 2-11.<\/span><\/p>\n Unsurprisingly, then, adults have taken to Twitter<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to celebrate the introduction of an adult theme to the children\u2019s show. However, not everyone was thrilled.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThey hate you. They hate your children. And they want them groomed,\u201d tweeted Shawn Mathis<\/strong><\/span>.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n Caroline Farrow, an English mother of five, told LifeSiteNews that \u201cit\u2019s a shame everything has to be sexualized.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s a cartoon series with which Farrow is familiar because her children like it.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAll the ponies have friendships with each other. So a lesbian couple introduces a completely unnecessary romantic element,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI would feel the same if they had a straight pairing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Michael Hichborn, American father of seven and the president of Lepanto Institute, says the intentional introduction of homosexuality to children is why he doesn\u2019t have a TV.<\/span><\/p>\n “This is precisely why we do not have access to television in our house,\u201d Hichborn told LifeSiteNews.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe sexual indoctrination of children into deviant lifestyles is so pervasive that it is becoming very difficult, if not impossible, to avoid.
