text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/themostimportantnews.com\/archives\/as-many-as-a-million-calves-lost-in-nebraska-beef-prices-in-the-u-s-to-escalate-dramatically-in-the-coming-months\">in March<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, farmers have planted <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/themostimportantnews.com\/archives\/total-catastrophe-for-u-s-corn-production-only-30-of-u-s-corn-fields-have-been-planted-5-year-average-is-66\">less than half<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>of the corn that is normally in the ground by this time of the year, and a lot of the crops that have been planted in the middle of the country are really struggling due to extremely wet soil.\u00a0 But it isn\u2019t just the United States that is facing a very troubling year.\u00a0 Earlier today, one of my readers sent me an article entitled <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/strangesounds.org\/2019\/05\/global-food-crisis-ahead-as-extreme-weather-events-devastate-crops-and-fields-around-the-world.html\">\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Global food crisis ahead as extreme weather events devastate crops and fields around the world<\/strong><\/span>\u201d<\/a> which I would encourage everyone to read.\u00a0 In that article, we are told that after the worst drought in 116 years Australia has actually been forced to import wheat.\u00a0 And according to <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/australia-news\/2019\/may\/15\/australia-to-import-wheat-for-first-time-in-12-years-as-drought-eats-into-grain-production\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>the Guardian<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, this is the first time in 12 years that this has happened\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Australia is planning to import wheat for the first time in 12 years after drought across the eastern states saw grain production fall 20% last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources confirmed this week it had issued a bulk import permit to allow wheat to be brought in from Canada to be processed for the domestic market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Normally, Australia exports a tremendous amount of wheat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">In fact, they were the fifth largest exporter of wheat in the entire world last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">But now they are having to bring wheat in from Canada, and that is a very ominous sign.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The article <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/strangesounds.org\/2019\/05\/global-food-crisis-ahead-as-extreme-weather-events-devastate-crops-and-fields-around-the-world.html\">on Strange Sounds<\/a><\/strong><\/span> also detailed crop failures in Italy, France, Mexico and Argentina.\u00a0 I will not reproduce all of that information here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">But one major crop failure that was missed in that article is the massive rice crop failure <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/reliefweb.int\/report\/philippines\/capiz-records-p350-m-damage-rice-crops\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>in the Philippines<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">More than P350 million worth of damage on rice crops due to drought was recorded by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA)-Capiz.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Per damage assessment report as of May 10, OPA information officer Florie May Castro said the damage on rice crops already reached P358,452,650 in the entire province of Capiz due to the dry spell.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">All over the world, crops are being devastated by floods, drought and colder than expected temperatures, and many are desperately hoping for a return to normalcy for global weather patterns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Things are particularly bad in North Korea.\u00a0 At this point,<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> <a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/world-report\/articles\/2019-05-15\/north-korea-suffering-historic-drought-amid-severe-food-shortage\">hardly any rain at all<\/a><\/strong><\/span> has fallen so far in 2019\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The rainfall is the lowest amount since 1982. Thus far in May, North Korea has seen 0.02 inches of rain. However, Pyongyang City, Nampho City, Kangwon Province and North and South Hwanghae provinces have seen no rainfall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">According to KCNA, if precipitation for the rest of May does not exceed 50% of the average annual precipitation, North Korea\u2019s January to May rainfall totals will be about 3 inches, the lowest amount ever recorded for that time period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">With so little rain, farmers have had an exceedingly difficult time growing anything at all, and at this point the nation is facing <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/world-report\/articles\/2019-05-15\/north-korea-suffering-historic-drought-amid-severe-food-shortage\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>an enormous food deficit<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Adding to the struggles is a widespread food shortage. The United Nations <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/en\/story\/2019\/05\/1037831\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>reported<\/strong><\/span><\/a> earlier this month that North Korea has a food deficit of 1.36 million metric tons. The 2018-2019 food crop production is an estimated 4.9 million metric tons, the lowest since the 2008-2009 season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">On top of everything else, let us not forget that African Swine Fever is absolutely devastating the global pig population.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">According to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/444614-pork-prices-to-climb-as-african-swine-flu-kills-up-to-200-million-of-chinas-pigs\">the Hill<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, it is being projected that 200 million hogs could die from the disease in China alone\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Pork prices are expected rise as African swine fever decimates Chinese pigs, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">McDonald\u2019s, Burger King, Jimmy Dean and Dunkin\u2019 all reportedly expect sausage and bacon prices to rise this year as China has to import pigs to make up for the 200 million hogs that are expected to die from the disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">To put that in perspective, that is more pigs than the entire U.S. pork industry produces in an entire year.\u00a0 For much more on this ongoing crisis, please see my previous article entitled <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/themostimportantnews.com\/archives\/an-estimated-150-200-million-pigs-have-been-hit-by-a-global-plague-of-biblical-proportions\">\u2018\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>An Estimated 150-200 Million Pigs\u201d Have Been Hit By A Global Plague Of Biblical Proportions<\/strong><\/span>\u2019<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Here in the United States, endless rain and unprecedented flooding have been the biggest problems.\u00a0 The previous 12 months have been the wettest <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/themostimportantnews.com\/archives\/what-is-causing-extremely-bizarre-weather-patterns-to-hammer-the-middle-of-the-u-s-over-and-over-again\">in all of U.S. history<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, and the middle of the country just got hammered <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-7053843\/Severe-storm-heads-east-22-tornadoes-ripped-Southern-Plai.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>by yet another series of severe storms<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Heavy rain, high winds and hail has swept across the central states, bringing devastation to the region during a brutally wet spring period, leaving 22 million people braced for more flash flooding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Four million residents were under a flash flood \u2019emergency warning\u2019 on Tuesday morning, including in Oklahoma, where as much as five feet of water entered homes in Hominy, to the northeast of the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Some 22 tornadoes have been reported so far across Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Missouri, while rescue crews in boats pulled at least 50 people from flood waters as heavy downpours inundated roads and homes, said Oklahoma Emergency Management Agency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Our planet is changing, and global weather patterns are going to keep shifting.\u00a0 The \u201cnew normal\u201d is going to look a whole lot different from the \u201cold normal\u201d, and we all need <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2YEACm7\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>to get prepared<\/strong><\/span><\/a> for a very uncertain future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Even during the good years, the world has really struggled to feed everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Now that we are facing catastrophic crop failures all over the planet, what will we do?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Many believe that a global food crisis is looming, and without a doubt U.S. consumers will soon be paying much higher prices when they visit the grocery store.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\"><em>About the author: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2CKeYnY\">Michael Snyder<\/a><\/strong><\/span> is a nationally-syndicated writer, media personality and political activist.
