Elements in the U.S. military would be stupid if they weren’t at least hesitant about launching a military strike on Iran. For if that did indeed happen the consequences could be potentially catastrophic.

Iran has spent the past two decades preparing for such an eventuality so if conflict does erupt the U.S. will face a better prepared and far more formidable adversary than Saddam’s Iraq. U.S. military commanders know this, as do Iraq War veterans like Tulsi Gabbard, (quoted below).

The only people who seem unable to grasp this are National Security advisor John Bolton and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, both of whom will be far removed from the frontlines should conflict erupt.

Getting bogged down in another unwinnable war, while it is still trying to extricate itself from Afghanistan is the last thing the U.S. military needs, all the more so while Vietnam is still within living memory. Combined, these episodes would set the seal on America’s poor reputation as a military power.

Moreover, ordinary Americans don’t want another U.S. military campaign overseas. That’s one of the main reasons they voted for Trump in the first place and as late as January 2019 he still seemed ready to make good on that pledge.

….Likewise, do not want the Kurds to provoke Turkey. Russia, Iran and Syria have been the biggest beneficiaries of the long term U.S. policy of destroying ISIS in Syria – natural enemies. We also benefit but it is now time to bring our troops back home. Stop the ENDLESS WARS!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 13, 2019

However, recent developments have now raised questions about whether Trump will indeed fulfil that promise? Or whether will he betray the voters who put him in the Oval Office with yet another war?

The U.S. does indeed seem to be preparing for some sort of military strike although possibly not directly on Iran itself. That’s because it would need to deploy a far larger force than is currently deployed. Rather, we suspect that the U.S. is preparing to launch limited military strikes on Iranian proxies in the region, such as Hezbollah forces in Syria, on Iranian backed Houthi fighters in Yemen and various IRGC forces in the gulf.

The trouble is that while the U.S. military may be planning to deliver limited strikes, things could easily escalate into a much wider conflict.

Of course this is exactly what Trump’s Zionist backers and advisors want. Even as Trump himself says he wants to avoid war his decisions, guided by Bolton and Pompeo, are making wider conflict much more likely.
