The U.S. Army\u2019s chief of staff is warning that the threats posed by China<\/a> and Russia<\/a> are on the rise.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gen. Mark Milley told the House Armed Services Committee Tuesday that \u201cinternational order, and by extension the United States\u2019 interest, are under increasing and dangerous pressure.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cChina<\/a> is a significant threat to the United States,\u201d he added, calling Beijing \u201ca revisionist power seeking to diminish the U.S.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He also warned of the increasing threat of Russia<\/a>\u2019s influence not just in the Western Hemisphere but around the world, backed by the Kremlin\u2019s massive nuclear capabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cRussia<\/a> remains the only current existential threat to the United States,\u201d Gen. Milley told the committee. \u201cIt will become, in my opinion, increasingly opportunistic and \u2026 take greater risks in the near term.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
