Prior to recent events in Christchurch, New Zealand was thought to have the most relaxed gun laws outside the United States.<\/h5>\n
Obviously that will now change in the wake of the recent shootings. Just as calls for stricter gun control legislation followed the shootings in Dunblane<\/span><\/a> and Hungerford<\/span><\/a>. In both cases the media focused attention on gun legislation rather on the psychiatric medication<\/span><\/a> that the two culprits were thought to have been taking and which may have played a part.<\/h5>\n
Given the fact that Brenton Tarrant, the Christchurch gunman also live-streamed<\/a><\/span> events over the web, we can also expect tighter controls on the Internet. Add to this the fact Tarrant referenced Swedish Youtuber PewDieDie<\/a><\/span> and it’s a double-bonus for the architects of the New World Order<\/h5>\n
It’s still too early to say whether this was staged, carried out in collusion or with the foreknowledge of New Zealand’s security services but the end result will be the same: tighter controls on guns and the Internet. Ed.<\/h5>\n

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Saturday morning that “our gun laws will change” following the mass shooting at two Christchurch mosques that left 49 people dead.<\/span><\/p>\n

“There were five guns used by the primary perpetrator,” she said at a news conference in Wellington. “There were two semi-automatic weapons and two shotguns. The offender was in possession of a gun license. I’m advised this was acquired in November of 2017. A lever-action firearm was also found.”<\/span><\/p>\n

She said the suspect, identified as Brenton Tarrant, obtained a gun license in November 2017 and began purchasing guns legally in December 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

“While work is being done as to the chain of events that lead to both the holding of this gun license and the possession of these weapons, I can tell you one thing right now. Our gun laws will change.” Ardern said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nation’s last mass shooting 3 decades ago<\/h2>\n

Until Friday, the biggest massacre<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the country’s history happened 30 years ago, when a man named David Gray went on a shooting rampage, killing 13 people.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following that attack, the nation’s gun laws — which were first passed in 1983 — came under scrutiny. The ensuing debate led to a 1992 amendment on the regulation of military-style semi-automatic firearms.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite those laws, New Zealand’s weapons legislation is considered more relaxed than most Western countries outside of the USA. Gun owners do need a license but they aren’t required to register <\/strong><\/span><\/a>their guns — unlike in neighboring Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n
