{"id":185231,"date":"2019-03-15T07:46:20","date_gmt":"2019-03-15T07:46:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=185231"},"modified":"2019-03-18T08:01:16","modified_gmt":"2019-03-18T08:01:16","slug":"microsoft-workers-protest-war-profiteering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=185231","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Workers Protest War Profiteering"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Be Interesting to see if they all are fired<\/em><\/h2>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Paul Craig Roberts \u2013 paulcraigroberts.org March 13, 2019<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">A global coalition of employees of the Microsoft Corporation is demanding that a contract for work with the U.S. Army be dropped.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Some employees \u2014I don\u2019t know the percentage\u2014have sent an open letter to both the CEO and the president\/chief legal officer of Microsoft stating alarm that \u201cMicrosoft is working to provide weapons technology to the U.S. Military, helping one country\u2019s government \u2018increase lethality\u2019 using tools we built. We did not sign up to develop weapons, and we demand a say in how our work is used.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The employees say that Microsoft has previously licensed technology to the US military, but until a recent contract Microsoft has not crossed the line into weapons development. \u201cWith this contract, it does. The application of HoloLens within the IVAS system is designed to help people kill. It will be deployed on the battlefield, and works by turning warfare into a simulated \u2018video game,\u2019 further distancing soldiers from the grim stakes of war and the reality of bloodshed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The employees tell the company that \u2018intent to harm is not an acceptable use of our technology\u201d and that they \u201cdo not want to become war profiteers.\u201d The employees demand that the IVAS contract be cancelled, that Microsoft cease developing weapons technologies and appoint an external ethics review board to ensure Microsoft does not \u201cempower the U.S. Army\u2019s ability to cause harm and violence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">One wonders why the employees\u2019 demand left out the Air Force, Navy, CIA and NSA. Nevertheless it is encouraging that after 20 years of murderous mayhem created in the world by the criminal and corrupt Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Trump Regimes, some people finally found their voice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">I owe my awareness of this protest by Microsoft employees to <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/rootsaction.org\/\">RootsAction.org<\/a>.
