<\/a><\/p>\nAfter years of suspending her membership due to false allegations of anti-Semitism, the UK\u2019s Labour Party has finally set a hearing date for Jackie Walker<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, The Electronic Intifada can reveal.<\/span><\/p>\n A Black and Jewish anti-racist activist, Walker will face a tribunal on 26 March.<\/span><\/p>\n She will answer charges before a panel of the National Constitutional Committee, or NCC, Labour\u2019s disciplinary body.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m so pleased to have a date for my hearing,\u201d Walker told The Electronic Intifada.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhatever the outcome, it\u2019s been amazing to be part of an anti-racist, anti-Zionist left that has refused to be silenced by what has been the worst political witch hunt of our generation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Since Jeremy Corbyn<\/a><\/strong><\/span> first ran for the Labour leadership in the summer of 2015, the party has faced an unrelenting witch hunt<\/a><\/strong><\/span> targeting the left and Palestine solidarity activists.<\/span><\/p>\n The NCC functions as the party\u2019s internal trial court, sending accused members charge sheets and legalistic bundles of documents. But it is a highly politicized body.<\/span><\/p>\n Up until September<\/a>,<\/strong> it was still controlled by Maggie Cosin, a member of Labour\u2019s right wing once described<\/a><\/strong><\/span> as the party\u2019s \u201cwitchfinder general.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The new chair<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Anna Dyer, has promised to bring change, after a pro-Corbyn majority was elected to the NCC<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>at the Labour Party conference in September.<\/span><\/p>\n Walker said: \u201cwhile some have hailed the new NCC as being an opportunity for justice, this remains to be seen. I expect the NCC to behave in a manner that reflects the politics of what\u2019s happening.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Walker is the last of three<\/a><\/strong><\/span> high-profile individuals who Israel lobby groups are demanding be expelled from the party on transparently baseless allegations of anti-Semitism.<\/span><\/p>\n Marc Wadsworth<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, another Black anti-racist activist of long-standing, launched<\/a><\/strong><\/span> legal action last year, after he was expelled<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in April, in what Labour leftists denounced as an \u201coutrageous decision\u201d and a \u201ctrial by media.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The following month, veteran anti-racist and former Labour mayor of London Ken Livingstone<\/a><\/strong><\/span> was effectively forced to resign<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>from the party to which he had devoted his life.<\/span><\/p>\n Walker faces expulsion for a supposedly anti-Semitic comment she made at the Labour Party conference in September 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n While at a Jewish Labour Movement<\/a><\/strong><\/span> training session, Walker was one of several people to voice disagreement with the pro-Israel group\u2019s definition of anti-Semitism.<\/span><\/p>\n As The Electronic Intifada reported<\/a><\/strong><\/span> at the time, the only definition<\/a><\/strong><\/span> used that day was one which includes<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>describing Israel a racist endeavor \u2013 something that would bar Palestinians from speaking about their lived reality.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI still haven\u2019t heard a definition of anti-Semitism I can work with,\u201d Walker said<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, and this comment is at the top of the list of charges she faces at the NCC next month.<\/span><\/p>\n Adam Langleben<\/a><\/strong><\/span> of the Jewish Labour Movement secretly filmed Walker\u2019s contribution to the supposedly private training session.<\/span><\/p>\n The JLM, which has intimate ties<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>to the Israeli embassy<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, leaked the video to journalists.<\/span><\/p>\n Media then whipped up a storm against Walker, which led to her removal<\/a> as vice-chair of pro-Corbyn group Momentum and her suspension from Labour altogether.<\/span><\/p>\n Despite grassroots support for Walker from the left wing of the Labour Party, including many Jewish members<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Walker\u2019s suspension has dragged on for more than two years.<\/span><\/p>\n But her case exposed the JLM\u2019s misleading<\/a><\/strong><\/span> definition of anti-Semitism to wider scrutiny, as well as the group\u2019s pro-Israel agenda as a trainer.<\/span><\/p>\n Since then, many local Labour groups have rejected<\/a><\/strong><\/span> JLM\u2019s politicized training<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n Walker has raised awareness of the injustice of her case through a well-received one-woman play<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, The Lynching<\/em>, which her director Steve Tiller is now fundraising to develop into a new<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>version with three professional actors.<\/span><\/p>\n Walker is also at the center of a new political documentary, Witch Hunt<\/em><\/a>, of which The Electronic Intifada viewed a rough cut<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>in October.<\/span><\/p>\n The screening was by invitation only, since a previously scheduled public showing during the Labour Party conference in Liverpool last year had to be abandoned after a bomb threat<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n Premieres of a new cut of the film will be held at secret locations in four major cities across the UK this weekend.<\/span><\/p>\nNew NCC?<\/h2>\n
