{"id":182378,"date":"2019-01-19T05:44:10","date_gmt":"2019-01-19T05:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=182378"},"modified":"2019-01-23T06:05:51","modified_gmt":"2019-01-23T06:05:51","slug":"german-industry-is-looking-into-the-abyss-warns-countrys-business-chiefs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=182378","title":{"rendered":"German industry &#8216;is looking into the abyss&#8217; warns country&#8217;s business chiefs"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">James Burton \u2013 Daily Mail Jan 18, 2018<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">German business chiefs have warned that a no-deal <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/brexit\/index.html\"><strong>Brexit<\/strong><\/a><\/span> would be catastrophic for their country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The nation&#8217;s supply chains and trade links are closely intertwined with Britain &#8211; sparking fears that its vital manufacturing sector will be badly damaged if the UK crashes out of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/european-union\/index.html\"><strong>European Union<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>without an agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">More than 750,000 jobs in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/germany\/index.html\"><strong>Germany<\/strong><\/a><\/span> depend on its trade with the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Carmakers and other firms were expecting a 21-month transition period if Theresa May&#8217;s deal with Brussels got through.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Instead they are now faced with a potential rupture in ten weeks that could have catastrophic consequences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Dieter Kempf, head of the German Federation of Industry (BDI), said: &#8216;A chaotic Brexit is now getting dangerously close to happening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">&#8216;Our companies are looking into the abyss.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">&#8216;We expect rapid answers from London as to how they are going to proceed.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">It is the first time cracks have appeared in the unity of German businesses, which have previously insisted that protecting the single market is more important than finding the best deal for Britain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Clemens Fuest, head of the IFO Institute of economists in Munich, called on the EU to give ground so Mrs May can get a deal through.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">He said: &#8216;A hard Brexit with its huge costs must be avoided. Both parties should now return to the negotiating table and modify the agreement so that it is acceptable to all sides.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Meanwhile, German economy minister Peter Altmaier told the Daily Telegraph that if no deal is reached, &#8216;everybody in Europe would lose.
