{"id":180993,"date":"2018-12-24T06:27:57","date_gmt":"2018-12-24T06:27:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=180993"},"modified":"2018-12-26T05:46:06","modified_gmt":"2018-12-26T05:46:06","slug":"hungary-hits-back-at-ft-soros-an-enemy-of-democracy-not-person-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=180993","title":{"rendered":"Hungary Hits Back at FT: Soros an \u2018Enemy of Democracy\u2019, Not \u2018Person of the Year\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Jack Montgomery \u2013 Breibart Dec 22, 2018<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The Hungarian government has hit out at the <em>Financial Times\u00a0<\/em>naming George Soros their \u201cPerson of the Year\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The famous salmon-coloured newspaper, something of a house magazine for the British establishment and financial elite, <strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/the-media\/2018\/12\/19\/financial-times-names-george-soros-person-of-the-year\/\">praised<\/a><\/strong> the billionaire currency speculator and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2002\/12\/21\/business\/soros-is-found-guilty-in-france-on-charges-of-insider-trading.html\">convicted insider trader<\/a><\/strong><\/span> as \u201cthe standard bearer of liberal democracy and open society\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Hungary\u2019s conservative-populist government, which shares a mutual antipathy with the 88-year-old plutocrat on the subject of mass migration \u2014 opposed by Budapest, encouraged by Soros \u2014 has offered an assessment very much to the contrary, observing: \u201cTo the <em>Financial Times<\/em>, he\u2019s Person of the Year, but to many ordinary citizens, Soros is an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/abouthungary.hu\/blog\/to-the-financial-times-hes-person-of-the-year-but-to-many-ordinary-citizens-soros-is-an-enemy-of-their-democracy\/\">enemy of their democracy<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Financial Times Names George Soros \u2018Person of the Year\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nHwB6EXyyk\">https:\/\/t.co\/nHwB6EXyyk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1075415080387469315?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 19, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">\u201cTo the<em> FT<\/em>, Soros is a philanthropist, period\u2026 the charitable, selfless kind,\u201d wrote government spokesman Dr Zolt\u00e1n Kov\u00e1cs, describing the financier as the newspaper\u2019s \u201cAchilles\u2019 heel\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">\u201cThe <em>FT<\/em> and much of the liberal, mainstream media just cannot talk in any depth about Soros as the ambitious political actor that he is, a man with an ideologically-driven agenda who puts money behind people and causes that are highly political in nature. He talks and writes candidly himself about his political schemes, plots for which he has zero political mandate,\u201d the Hungarian observed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">\u201cThe irony here? The \u2018standard bearer of liberal democracy\u2019 funds political movements to undermine democratically elected governments and decisions \u2013 like Brexit \u2013 taken by popular referendum.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">It is true that Soros, a Hungarian-born American citizen, has indeed ploughed hundreds of thousands of pounds into the movement to overturn Brexit, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/politics\/2018\/02\/07\/elitist-remainers-plotting-bring-government-wake-up-call-tory\/\">facilitated meetings<\/a><\/strong><\/span> between powerful EU loyalist politicians and party donors from both the governing Tory party and the Labour opposition at his Chelsea mansion.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Farage: Money Soros Gave to Anti-Brexit Campaign Is \u2018The Tip of the Iceberg\u2019  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kEWAPId83a\">https:\/\/t.co\/kEWAPId83a<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/961978012601262080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 9, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Kov\u00e1cs also raised the \u201ctens of millions of [United States Dollars]\u201d which Soros spend \u201clobbying the U.S. government against Hungary\u201d in 2017, and similar efforts in the EU capital of Brussels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">\u201cSoros and the NGOs that rely on his funding for survival continue to back a radical, open borders, pro-immigration agenda at a time when the migration crisis is putting difficult strains on states to protect Europe\u2019s borders and posing serious security concerns.
