<\/a><\/p>\nThe BBC press service has confirmed the authenticity of the correspondence obtained by Sputnik concerning the broadcaster’s search of the so-called “Russian trace” in the French Yellow Vests’ rallies.<\/span><\/p>\n Earlier in\u00a0the day, a correspondence obtained by\u00a0Sputnik showed that a BBC stringer has admitted that the broadcaster is in\u00a0the search of\u00a0any proof of\u00a0Russia\u2019s alleged role in\u00a0the “Yellow Vests” protests in\u00a0Paris, demanding that its journalists seek any leads that would point to\u00a0Moscow.<\/span><\/p>\n Sputnik has obtained the correspondence of\u00a0the BBC journalist, who wrote a message to\u00a0one of\u00a0the stringers covering Yellow Vest demonstrations in\u00a0Paris, trying to\u00a0find out\u00a0whether Russia had something to\u00a0do with\u00a0the protests in\u00a0the French capital. The stringer, in\u00a0turn, explained that she had not seen any Russians at\u00a0the protests.<\/span><\/p>\n The BBC stringer was not satisfied with\u00a0such an answer.<\/span><\/p>\n “Well, maybe some Russian businesses are capitalizing quite well on\u00a0it [protests] [smiling emoji]. Maybe, they [protesters] are eating cutlets en masse [smiling emoji]?” the BBC correspondent went on.<\/span><\/p>\n The stringer has only laughed in\u00a0response.<\/span><\/p>\n The BBC journalist explained that she was “looking for\u00a0various angles” since\u00a0the broadcaster was “out for\u00a0blood.”<\/span><\/p>\n When asked to\u00a0comment on\u00a0the matter, the BBC press office has stated, “As the French Foreign Minister had spoken publicly about\u00a0media reports of\u00a0a possible Russian influence in\u00a0the protests,\u00a0it was perfectly reasonable for\u00a0our correspondent to\u00a0raise the subject. However, in\u00a0the end her reports made no mention of\u00a0a possible connection with\u00a0Russia at\u00a0all. We stand by\u00a0our impartial, independent journalism.”<\/span><\/p>\n The news comes as\u00a0French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on\u00a0December 9 that the French Secretariat-General for\u00a0National Defense and Security (SGDSN) was looking into\u00a0media reports about\u00a0Russia’s alleged meddling in\u00a0the rallies.<\/span><\/p>\n It followed The Times\u2019 reports that hundreds of\u00a0allegedly Russia-linked Twitter accounts were found fueling the “Yellow Vests” protests by\u00a0posting pictures of\u00a0injured protesters and retweeting posts connected to\u00a0the unrest.<\/span><\/p>\n
