American troops will stay in the Middle East indefinitely to protect Israel, despite the fact that other US concerns such as oil were no longer sufficient reason to retain a military presence in the region, US President Donald Trump has said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview with the\u00a0Washington Post,<\/em> Trump<\/a><\/strong><\/span> explained his reasoning as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNow, are we going to stay in that part of the world [the Middle East]?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOne reason to is Israel. Oil is becoming less and less of a reason because we\u2019re producing more oil now than we\u2019ve ever produced. So, you know, all of a sudden it gets to a point where you don\u2019t have to stay there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the first time that a US president has specifically admitted that the US maintains a military presence in the Middle East solely because of Israel\u2014a fact always covered up by the Jewish lobby-controlled media but well-known to all objective observers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The reference to \u201coil\u201d in Trump\u2019s comments is clearly aimed at Saudi Arabia\u2014one of the US\u2019 main oil providers and a firm ally of Israel.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the close co-operation between the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia\u2014most recently seen in the supplying of weapons to the radical Islamists posing as \u201cmoderate rebels\u201d in Syria.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier, Trump said that that Israel would face severe difficulties without the presence of Saudi Arabia, saying<\/a><\/strong><\/span>: \u201cThe fact is that Saudi Arabia is tremendously helpful in the Middle East, if we didn\u2019t have Saudi Arabia we wouldn\u2019t have a big base [and] Israel would be in big trouble.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe United States intends to remain a steadfast partner of Saudi Arabia to ensure the interests of our country, Israel, and all other partners in the region,\u201d he said, deflecting critics who pointed out the murderous nature of the Saudi regime as exemplified in the recent murder of Saudi journalist\u00a0Jamal Khashoggi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, US Senator Rand Paul has stirred controversy with his \u201chold\u201d<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>over the passage of the U.S.-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2018, which codifies into law the $38 billion defense aid package for Israel over 10 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Senate rules allow an individual senator to prevent a bill from being put forward because there is a requirement that all senators have to agree to a bill being put forward.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paul has put the \u201chold\u201d on the bill because, he said, \u201cIf we are going to send aid to Israel it should be limited in time and scope so we aren\u2019t doing it forever.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Paul\u2019s hold will only be temporary, as there is a way to force the bill forward, and he is also likely to buckle to increasing pressure from the Jewish lobby.<\/span><\/p>\n
