Unlike London\u2019s Shard or Dubai\u2019s Burj Khalifa Tower St. Petersburg Lakhta Center hasn\u2019t received too much publicity.<\/h5>\n
That maybe because being the tallest building in Europe it seems to defy the various sanctions and economic measures that have been applied on Russia since its annexation of Crimea in 2014. Indeed, like the Crimean Bridge<\/a><\/span>, St. Petersburg\u2019s Lakhta tower can be seen to represent a new confidence in Russia and its future. Ed.<\/h5>\n

Construction of Europe’s Tallest Building Finishes in St. Petersburg<\/h1>\n

Construction of the 462-meter Lakhta Center skyscraper in St. Petersburg officially came to a close on Monday when city authorities announced that they had included the building into Russia\u2019s property register, six years after the start of construction.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located in northern St. Petersburg, the 87-story building is expected to become the headquarters of Russia\u2019s Gazprom gas giant, along with its oil subsidiary, Gazprom Neft. According to Forbes<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Gazprom Neft is also listed as the owner of the building\u00a0\u2014 the tallest in Russia and in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s Federal Service of State Registration included the skyscraper in its databases on Monday after officials completed the necessary inventory inspections, Interfax\u00a0reported<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lakhta Center Facebook page published a one-minute time lapse video of the six-year construction process on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n
