Racist note left on dorm door. But when cops question student who reported it, the truth emerges.<\/h5>\n

Kansas State University police officers were called last Monday evening to a school apartment complex to investigate a harassment case, the\u00a0Wichita Eagle reported<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Seems \u201ca note using a racial slur [was] posted on a door in the Jardine Apartment Complex,\u201d\u00a0campus police said<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0on Facebook Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Twitter photos from @WholsBrodrick show paper on a door frame reading \u201cBeware N****** Live Here!!! Knock at Your Own Risk,\u201d the Eagle said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Twitter post \u2014 which on Monday morning appeared to be deleted \u2014 read that it\u2019s \u201c2018 and this was posted on my apartment door. this is still happening here at @KState so if (sic) isn\u2019t as evident as it already was everyone needs to get out and vote I refuse to let this blatant racism stop me from moving onward and upward,\u201d the paper reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

The day after the photos were posted was Election Day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Broderick Burse tweeted the photos, the Eagle said, citing the\u00a0Manhattan Mercury<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and the campus newspaper, the\u00a0Collegian<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. Burse is listed as a sophomore in mass communications on the university\u2019s\u00a0website<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, the Eagle added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then the truth comes out<\/h2>\n

Well, it turns out that \u201cupon questioning, the person who reported the incident admitted to creating and posting the note to their own door,\u201d the Facebook post from campus police read. \u201cThe matter will be addressed in accordance with applicable disciplinary procedures.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

An encore performance<\/h2>\n

You may recall that right around this time last November a \u201chate crime\u201d near the school\u00a0also turned out to be a hoax<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. According\u00a0to the Kansas City Star<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Riley County Police were called to an apartment complex near the school and found a black man\u2019s car covered in racist graffiti.<\/span><\/p>\n

The N-word was spray painted on the car several times, along with other derogatory statements such as \u201cdie,\u201d \u201cwhites only,\u201d boy,\u201d and \u201cdate your own kind.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The incident led black students to organize and begin a dialogue about racism. University police also increased patrols and considered installing additional security cameras across campus. The FBI even got involved in the investigation, likely because it appeared to be a hate crime,\u00a0according to the Associated Press<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

But soon the car\u2019s owner, 21-year-old Dauntarius Williams, admitted to police that he was responsible for the graffiti, the Star reported, adding that officials chose to not charge him for filing a false police report as doing so wouldn\u2019t \u201cbe in the best interest\u201d of city\u2019s residents.<\/span><\/p>\n
