The US, UK, and French governments are behind millions of people starving in Yemen because they are \u201csupporting this war,\u201d an Oxfam representative told RT, urging London to stop beefing up Saudi Arabia\u2019s military.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have 14 million people starving,\u201d<\/em> Richard Stanforth, Oxfam UK\u2019s regional policy officer for the Middle East, said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stanforth blamed the British government in particular, saying that London should stop its arms sales to Saudi Arabia, which is accused of targeting food supplies and even no-strike locations in Yemen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen attacks on water infrastructure, on hospitals, warehouses of food. This pattern is continuing. Certainly, it\u2019s the airstrikes that are killing most civilians,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stanforth says Riyadh\u2019s bombing is not sparing humanitarian sites either\u2026 including that of Oxfam. Saudi Arabia is \u201caware of many of these locations\u201d<\/em> and along with the UAE, it is still hitting them, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Western states have been widely criticized by rights groups for their continued arms sales to Riyadh. However, turning the tide on multibillion-dollar deals may not be so easy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the killing of exiled Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, US President Donald Trump issued\u00a0strong words<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0to Riyadh. He was not prepared, however, to cancel a $400 billion arms deal, saying there are other ways to\u00a0\u201cpunish<\/strong><\/span>\u201d<\/a>\u00a0America\u2019s Middle East ally.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s position was echoed<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>by the attitude of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, who said it is\u00a0\u201cvery difficult\u201d<\/em>\u00a0(or\u2026 costly, to be precise) to get out of the arms deals with Saudi Arabia<\/span><\/p>\n
