{"id":176695,"date":"2018-09-23T12:16:34","date_gmt":"2018-09-23T12:16:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=176695"},"modified":"2018-09-25T04:40:25","modified_gmt":"2018-09-25T04:40:25","slug":"russia-israel-to-blame-for-downed-plane-over-syria-deliberately-misled-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=176695","title":{"rendered":"Russia: Israel to Blame for Downed Plane Over Syria, Deliberately Misled Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Haaretz &#8212; Sept 23, 2018<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Russia&#8217;s Defense Ministry on Sunday formally blamed Israel for the<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> <a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/middle-east-news\/syria-shoots-down-russian-spyplane-during-israeli-strike-russia-blasts-israel-you-re-to-blame-for-15-killed-1.6489773\">downing of the Russian aircraft<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>last week over Syria, accusing the Israeli military of &#8220;criminal negligence.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">In a report detailing the circumstances\u00a0surrounding the incident, Russia accused Israel of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/middle-east-news\/russia-israel-to-blame-for-downed-plane-over-syria-deliberately-misled-us-1.6494034\">deliberately misleading Russia<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on its planned airstrikes, preventing the downed plane from moving to a safe place on time.<\/span><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mWkrGsq0UVo?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">&#8220;The presented objective data indicates that the actions of the Israeli fighter pilots which led to the loss of the life of 15 Russian servicemen lacked professionalism and were an act of criminal negligence, to say the least. Therefore we believe that the blame for the tragedy of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/middle-east-news\/syria\/.premium-downing-of-russian-jet-israel-fears-putin-will-clip-its-wings-in-syria-1.6492314\">Russian\u00a0Ilyushin-20<\/a><\/strong><\/span> lies entirely with the Israeli air force and those who made the decision to carry out such actions,&#8221; Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov\u00a0said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Sharply criticizing Israel&#8217;s conduct in the incident, Konashenkov said that Israel&#8217;s military leadership &#8220;either has no appreciation for the level of relations with Russia or has no control over individual commands or commanding officers who understood that their actions would lead to tragedy.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Russia also contradicted Israel&#8217;s claims that the plane was downed while Israeli jets had returned to Israeli territory. &#8220;The Israeli jets saw the Russian Ilyushin Il-20 and used it as a shield against the anti-aircraft missiles, while they carried on maneuvering in the region,&#8221; the Defense Ministry said.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Russia&#39;s Defense Ministry releases video and report contradicting Israel&#39;s official accounting of incident in which 15 Russian airmen were killed<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NrlqPXlrbu\">https:\/\/t.co\/NrlqPXlrbu<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SE97xI5tWS\">pic.twitter.com\/SE97xI5tWS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Haaretz.com (@haaretzcom) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/haaretzcom\/status\/1043803764644352000?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 23, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Russia sent as many as 310 notifications to the Israeli military since the countries reached a cooperation agreement, Konashenkov said, while Israel only notified Russia 25 times. Konashenkov noted the discrepancy despite <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/israel-news\/.premium-israel-struck-200-targets-in-syria-in-the-past-year-and-a-half-1.6450610\">Israel carrying out more than 200 strikes in Syria<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the past year and a half. &#8220;This is an extremely ungrateful response to all that has been done by the Russian Federation for Israel and the Israeli people recently,&#8221; Konashenkov said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Konashenkov also lauded Russia&#8217;s efforts to secure the withdrawal of Iran-backed forces from the Golan Heights near the Israeli border, saying that\u00a0a total of 1,050 personnel, 24 MLRSs and tactical missiles, as well as 145 pieces of other munitions and military equipment&#8221; were moved more than 140 km to the east of Syria. Konashenkov added that this was done at Israel&#8217;s request.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Konashenkov noted that Russia is working to preserve Jewish sites and graves in the Syrian city of Aleppo, adding that Russian soldiers&#8217; are aiding in a special search operation for the remains of Israeli servicemen missing in action following prior conflicts. He said Russian forces came under fire from ISIS militants while searching in coordinates provided by Israel. He noted that one Russian officer was wounded but the operation continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Fifteen Russian airmen were killed when the\u00a0Ilyushin 20 airplane was mistakenly shot down by Syria&#8217;s air defenses soon after an Israeli strike near the coastal Syrian city of Latakia. Israel blamed the incident on Syrian recklessness, while the Russian embassy in Israel said the Air Force&#8217;s actions were &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/middle-east-news\/israel-s-irresponsible-actions-led-to-death-of-15-russian-servicemen-1.6491146\">irresponsible and unfriendly<\/a><\/strong><\/span>&#8221; and exposed the downed plane to danger.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Lebanese news outlet Al-Mayadeen meanwhile reported that Russia plans to continue its\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/middle-east-news\/russia-shuts-air-and-sea-traffic-off-syria-coast-following-downing-of-jet-1.6490932\">closure of the airspace above Syria&#8217;s territorial waters<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0after the end of military exercises on September 26. According to the report, the decision to shut the airspace was made by Russia&#8217;s National Security Council after the plane was shot down. Al-Mayadeen reported earlier this week that Russia had rejected Israel&#8217;s findings regarding the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Israel does not usually comment on reports that it conducted airstrikes in Syria, but was forced to this week because of the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">An Israel Defense Forces delegation<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/israel-news\/.premium-israeli-delegation-heads-to-moscow-talks-after-russian-jet-downed-over-syria-1.6490726\">traveled Thursday to Moscow<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>in an attempt to ease the tensions caused by the incident.\u00a0The delegation, headed by the commander of the air force, Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin, offered Russian Air Force commander Lt. Gen.
