Click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">German Chancellor Angela Merkel will allegedly fire the head of the country\u2019s domestic intelligence service after he countered claims of \u201cmigrant hunts\u201d during one of the many Chemnitz protests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Government\u00a0sources claim that the German leader has decided to relieve Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) chief Hans-Georg Maassen of his post following a number of incidents including his <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/london\/2018\/09\/08\/chemnitz-evidence-anti-migrant-attacks\/\">rejection of a video<\/a><\/strong><\/span> that allegedly showed angry demonstrators in Chemnitz \u201chunting\u201d migrants following the murder of Daniel Hillig,\u00a0<em>Die Welt<\/em> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.welt.de\/politik\/deutschland\/article181555878\/Umstrittener-Verfassungsschutzchef-Merkel-hat-sich-entschieden-dass-Maassen-gehen-muss.html\">reports<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The sources claim that Merkel decided the fate of the spy chief over the weekend, telling several members of her coalition government that\u00a0Maassen would be replaced because he had interfered with domestic politics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">While the government\u00a0refused to comment on the reports,\u00a0deputy government spokeswoman Martina Fietz indicated that the Tuesday meeting between Merkel, who heads the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Social Democrats (SPD) leader Andrea Nahles, and Christian Social\u00a0Union (CSU) leader and federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer, would see the issue openly discussed.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Chemnitz: Intelligence Chief Says \u2018No Evidence\u2019 Anti-Migrant Attack Video Is Authentic <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/VcH16UNAdt\">https:\/\/t.co\/VcH16UNAdt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1038380173752553472?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 8, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">According to <em>Die Welt<\/em>,\u00a0Maassen, who is backed by Interior Minister Seehofer, told members of the CDU and CSU: \u201cHorst Seehofer told me that if I fall, then he will fall.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">SPD vice-chairman Ralf Stegner welcomed the reports saying: \u201cMr Maassen is unacceptable in his post because he has massively damaged the confidence in the security organs of our liberal democracy.\u00a0This is a dangerous process in the current political situation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Last week SPD\u00a0general secretary, Lars Klingbeil, also <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/london\/2018\/09\/13\/left-calls-for-germany-to-fire-spymaster-chief-who-spoke-out-on-right-wing-protests\/\">called on Merkel<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>to remove\u00a0Maassen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The pressure to get rid of the BfV head comes after he commented on a video following the<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/london\/2018\/08\/28\/1000-citizens-german-city-riot-streets-following-fatal-stabbing-migrant\/\"> Chemnitz protests<\/a><\/strong><\/span> which were in reaction to the killing of local Daniel Hillig, allegedly by asylum seekers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The video, which many claimed showed locals \u201chunting\u201d migrants was dismissed by\u00a0Maassen who told German tabloid <em>Bild<\/em>:\u00a0\u201cI share the scepticism towards media reports of right-wing extremists chasing down [foreigners] in Chemnitz.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">\u201cBased on my cautious assessment, there are good reasons to believe that this was intentional false information, possibly to detract attention from the murder in Chemnitz,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Maassen has also been accused of passing along unpublished information to the anti-mass migration\u00a0Alternative for Germany (AfD) which now serves\u00a0as the official opposition in the German parliament.
