{"id":15826,"date":"2010-12-10T09:04:43","date_gmt":"2010-12-10T09:04:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=15826"},"modified":"2013-06-15T06:48:24","modified_gmt":"2013-06-15T06:48:24","slug":"the-british-army%e2%80%99s-frr-go-trough-the-looking-glass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=15826","title":{"rendered":"The British Army\u2019s FRR Go Trough The Looking Glass"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Nick Kollerstrom \u2013 Terror on the Tube December 9, 2010<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Perpetrators of the London bombings<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_15830\" style=\"width: 182px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/FRR-logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15830\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15830\" title=\"FRR logo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/FRR-logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"172\" height=\"293\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-15830\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Force Reconnaissance Regiment insignia<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The formation of the British army\u2019s <strong>Force Reconnaissance Regiment<\/strong> was announced by Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon on April 5<sup>th<\/sup> 2004, as part of the UK army\u2019s \u2018Special Forces.\u2019 It would focus, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Special_Reconnaissance_Regiment\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Hoon explained,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> on \u2018combating terrorism\u2019.\u00a0 That was one month before the BBC\u2019s <em>Panorama<\/em> program, which scripted the first outline of what London would suffer a year later on 7\/7.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The FRR would go \u2018deep undercover\u2019 for its reconnaissance, behind \u2018enemy\u2019 lines. On April 6, 2005, the FRR came into existence, a mere three months before 7\/7. It appears as a secretive organisation above the law, with a license to kill \u2013 and with bomb making skills. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/terroronthetube.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/FRR.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Its insignia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> shows a sword being shoved up through a helmeted head.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Let\u2019s take a closer look, at the little that has come out. Our main areas of concern are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The assassination of Jean Charles de Menezes<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The gunning down of two young men as \u2018terrorists\u2019 at Canary Wharf at 10.30 am on July 7<sup>th<\/sup><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The fabrication of bomb equipment in Basra<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The startling rescue of FRR agents once captured in Basra.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Here is <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.duncanmcfarlane.org\/collaborators\/\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">an Irish view:<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u2019By May 2005 another of the British military intelligence units involved in the \u2018dirty war\u2019 in Northern Ireland \u2013 the 14th Intelligence Detachment \u2013 nicknamed the \u201814th\u2019 or \u2018the Det\u2019- was renamed the Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR) responsible for \u2018counter-terrorism\u2019 operations in Iraq and the UK. Brigadier Gordon Kerr was appointed the head of the SRR. All retain immunity from prosecution \u2013 this time that held by all coalition troops in Iraq at the demand of the Bush administration as occupying power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u2018True to old form in Northern Ireland we now know that the SRR have already been involved in getting at least one more innocent person killed. On the day that the Brazilian Jean Charles De Menezes was killed by armed police in the London underground at least one member of the Special Reconnaissance Regiment was the man who wrongly identified him as possibly being one of the July the 7th bombers. The government and the Metropolitan Police have refused to answer questions about whether more than one member of the SRR was involved in the surveillance team following Menezes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u2018<em>The Scotsman<\/em> newspaper also reported that the two SAS men arrested by Iraqi police last August for allegedly driving around with automatic weapons and bomb making equipment were also under the command of the SRR \u2013 which would also put them under the command of Brigadier Gordon Kerr as head of that unit.\u2019 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Here is <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialistworker.co.uk\/art.php?id=21850\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">a socialist view:<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Members of military intelligence from the Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR) carried out the flawed surveillance of Jean Charles de Menezes. The SRR ran death squads in Iraq, targeting supporters of the resistance to the US-British occupation of that country. When the SRR was formed in 2005 it incorporated a secret unit of the British army that had supplied names, addresses and photographs of Catholic targets to Loyalist paramilitaries in Northern Ireland. So it had trained killers and bomb-makers from its inception \u2013 three months before 7\/7. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Those seconded into the FRR had <em>sophisticated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsws.org\/articles\/2005\/oct2005\/basr-o21.shtml\">bomb-making technology<\/a>:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u201cAccording to investigators examining past collusion between the security forces and paramilitaries in Northern Ireland, members of the shadowy army undercover outfit, the Force Research Unit, and officers from MI5 learned in the early 1990s that a senior IRA member in south Armagh was working to develop bombs triggered by light beams. They decided the risks would be diminished if they knew what technology was being used.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u201c\u2018The thinking of the security forces was that if they were intimate with the technology, then they could develop counter-measures, thereby staying one step ahead of the IRA,\u2019 a senior source close to the inquiry explained. \u2018It may seem absurd that the security services were supplying technology to the IRA, but the strategy was sound.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The Identity of De Menezes\u2019 Assassins<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> Even <em>Wikipedia<\/em> comments on the involvement of the SRR in the Charles de Menezes assassination:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">On 22 July 2005 <\/span><a title=\"Jean Charles de Menezes\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jean_Charles_de_Menezes\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Jean Charles de Menezes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> was shot dead by armed police officers on the <\/span><a title=\"London Underground\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/London_Underground\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">London Underground<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> rail system, at <\/span><a title=\"Stockwell tube station\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stockwell_tube_station\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Stockwell tube station<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">. Three media reports carry assertions by unattributed UK government sources that SRR personnel were involved in the intelligence collection effort leading to the shooting and on the tube train whilst the offensive action occurred.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">We should doubt Wiki\u2019s view that police shot de Menezes. The Met were evidently distressed (I would say) at not being able to deny responsibility, even though such a mode of killing was quite foreign to their practice. The British police are not into shooting seven dum-dum bullets slowly into the back of the head of a totally innocent man pinned to the ground. But, they had to shoulder the blame, because the killers were immune from public scrutiny.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Here is <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerbase.info\/index.php?title=Special_Reconnaissance_Regiment%20\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><em>The Times<\/em> <\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">drawing attention to the real assassins of De Menezes:-<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Press photographs of members of the armed response team taken in the immediate aftermath of the killing show at least one man carrying a special forces weapon that is not issued to <\/span><a title=\"SO19\" href=\"http:\/\/www.powerbase.info\/index.php\/SO19\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">SO19<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">, the Metropolitan police firearms unit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The man, wearing civilian clothes with a blue cap marked \u201cPolice\u201d, was carrying a specially modified Heckler &amp; Koch G3K rifle with a shortened barrel and a butt from a PSG-1 sniper rifle fitted to it \u2014 a combination used by the SAS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Another man, dressed in a T-shirt, jeans and trainers, was carrying a Heckler &amp; Koch G36C. Although this weapon is used on occasion by SO19 it appears to be fitted with a target illuminator purchased as an \u201curgent operational requirement\u201d for UK special forces involved in the war on terror.<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerbase.info\/index.php?title=Special_Reconnaissance_Regiment#cite_note-4\"><sup><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">[5]<\/span><\/sup><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> July 2005<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><em>The Express<\/em> made <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerbase.info\/index.php?title=Special_Reconnaissance_Regiment\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">a similar comment,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> about a photo taken just after the event:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The picture, along with several others, was taken outside Jean Charles\u2019s home in a block of flats in Scotia Road, Tulse Hill, and shows several men who appear to be carrying SAS weapons and wearing military issue clothing. The man in the blue check shirt wore a helmet with a green SR tag on the side. It is believed this means he was part of the Special Reconnaissance Regiment, based next to the SAS HQ in Hereford. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Basra, September 19, 2005<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_15831\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/frr-captives.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15831\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15831\" title=\"frr captives\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/frr-captives-300x210.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/frr-captives-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/frr-captives.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-15831\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Captured Force Reconnaisance Regiment men?<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u201cIraqi police sources in Basra told the BBC the \u2018two British men were arrested after failing to stop at a checkpoint.\u00a0 There was an exchange of gunfire.\u00a0 The men were wearing traditional Arab clothing, and when the police eventually stopped them, they said they found explosives and weapons in their car.\u00a0 It\u2019s widely believed the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/terroronthetube.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/uk-basra-712333.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">two British servicemen were operating undercover<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u201cIraqi leader, Fattah al-Sheikh said that police had \u2018caught two non-Iraqis, who seem to be Britons and were in a car of the Cressida type.\u00a0 It was a booby-trapped car laden with ammunition and was meant to explode in the centre of the city of Basra.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Who were these people? Quoting from <em>The Scotsman:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u201cBritish defence sources told the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/news.scotsman.com\/index.cfm?id=1964592005%20\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Scotsman<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> (9\/20\/05) that the soldiers were part of an \u201cundercover special forces detachment\u201d set up this year to \u201cbridge the intelligence void\u201d in Basra, drawing on \u2018special forces\u2019 experience in Northern Ireland and Aden, where British troops went \u2018deep\u2019 undercover in local communities to try to break the code of silence against foreign forces.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">These elite forces operate under the Special Reconnaissance Regiment and were formed last year by then defence secretary, Geoff Hoon, \u201cto gather human intelligence during counter-terrorist missions.\u201d\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><em>The Scotsman<\/em> added, rather crucially: \u201cThis is the same Regiment that was involved in the unlawful July 22 execution \u2013 multiple head-shots \u2013 of the innocent Brazilian, Mr. Jean Charles de Menezes, after he boarded a tube train in Stockwell Underground station.\u201d That was a well-informed source speaking to <em>The Scotsman.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Nafeez Ahmed <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/nafeez.blogspot.com\/2005_10_01_archive.html%20\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">commented,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> on the Basra episode, \u2018A glance at the Special Reconnaissance Regiment gives a more concrete idea of the sort of operations these two British soldiers were involved in. The Regiment, formed recently, is \u201cmodelled on an undercover unit that operated in Northern Ireland\u201d according to <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/uk_news\/story\/0,3604,1542080,00.html\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Whitehall<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> sources. The Regiment had \u201cabsorbed the 14th Intelligence Company, known as \u201914 Int,\u2019 a plainclothes unit set up to gather intelligence covertly on suspect terrorists in Northern Ireland. Its recruits are trained by the SAS.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">After the SRR killers had their cover blown, what happened? They were rescued, in a spectacular manner: \u201cBritish forces used up to <strong>10 tanks supported by helicopters<\/strong> to <strong>smash through the walls of the jail<\/strong> and free the two British Servicemen. Several media reports and eyewitness accounts suggested that the SAS operatives were disguised as Al Qaeda \u2018terrorists.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The SAS were made to shoulder the blame. Why was it so vital to rescue them <em>and <\/em>to cover their identity by blaming the SAS? Why have we since heard nothing, not even the names of the persons arrested? There must have been something awful that the two bomb-makers could have blurted out, had they not been rescued. Normally undercover agents know that they will be abandoned to their fate if caught, and do not expect to be rescued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Captain Ken Masters, commander of the Royal Military Police\u2019s Special Investigations Branch in Iraq, was charged with investigating allegations of mistreatment of Iraqi civilians by British soldiers. While attempting to investigate the \u2018rescue\u2019 of the FRR members, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsws.org\/articles\/2005\/oct2005\/basr-o21.shtml%20\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">he was found hung <\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">in his military accommodation in Basra on October 15. Reports indicate that he had displayed no signs of stress or illness and that no suicide notes were found at the scene. There was no government enquiry, no questions in the House, and nobody went to jail.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">What bunch of killers could have such power?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Through the Looking-Glass<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">For the SRR to go \u2018deep undercover\u2019 behind the \u2018enemy\u2019 lines might have made a grain of sense in Northern Ireland, however when applied to Al-Qaeda the situation is very different. Al-Qaeda <em>does not exist,<\/em> it is <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/terroronthetube.co.uk\/related-articles\/the-phantom-menace\/\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><em>The Phantom Menace<\/em>. <\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> Its primary characteristic, is <em>non-existence<\/em>. Its image\u00a0has been nurtured and developed since the late \u201890s by the FBI and MI6 (For readers sceptical, see essays by Nafeez Ahmed, eg <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/911blogger.com\/node\/2966\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">) If killer thugs already somewhat ethically challenged are given a mandate to go \u2018deep undercover\u2019 etc, what is going to happen? Are they not going to go<em> right through the looking-<\/em>glass and end up as being themselves, \u2018the enemy\u2019? <strong>It is the anti-terror militia who create the false-flag terror events, <\/strong>that is the frightful reality and paradox of our new millennium.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Look <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/terroronthetube.co.uk\/related-articles\/london-and-bali-bombs-a-comparison\/\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">at Bali, in 2002<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">,\u00a0 or at Madrid 2004 when the big NATO anti-terror drill March 4-10<sup>th<\/sup> culminated so to speak in the railway-station explosions of 11<sup>th<\/sup> March. What NATO had drilled for in several European capital cities, then happened.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">In the months prior to 7\/7, Warner Brothers were filming in the London Underground for their smash hit, \u2018V for Vendetta.\u2019 We here hypothesise that the FRR were responsible for planting the bombs on the London Underground, in which they would have had assistance from US agents planted as film crew. That film featured a tube train primed to explode. It was due to open later in 2005 but had to be postponed as its theme was too similar to the 7\/7 event. Its filming ended in June, 2005. Its photography co-ordinator died mysteriously and unexpectedly in December, prior to the release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Acknowledgement:<\/span> The case here presented has come about through discussions with Andrew McGregor.
