Princess Diana\u2019s former lover James Hewitt denies being Harry\u2019s father<\/h2>\n

Princess Diana\u2019s former lover James Hewitt has spoken out about their affair, denying long-standing rumours he could have been Prince Harry\u2019s father.<\/span><\/p>\n

The former cavalry officer said speculation had persisted because \u201cit sells papers\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diana confessed in a BBC Panorama programme in 1995 that the pair had had an affair.<\/span><\/p>\n

She and Prince Charles separated in 1992, divorcing four years later.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an interview with Channel Seven\u2019s Sunday Night in Australia, the former Life Guards officer was asked: \u201cAre you Harry\u2019s father?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He replied: \u201cNo, I\u2019m not.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The host asked him: \u201cWhy does that keep being repeated?\u201d He said: \u201cIt sells papers\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hewitt has previously described the couple\u2019s five-year relationship as \u201cexciting and sexy\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a magazine interview he said: \u201cThe situation that Princess Diana and I were in made it exciting and sexy because it was risky.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe danger spiced it up a bit, if you know what I mean.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
