If the US and NATO do anything silly to provoke the Russian bear, they can expect to be eaten alive.<\/h3>\n

\u201cSince mid-2014 the Pentagon has run all manner of\u00a0war games \u2013 as\u00a0 many as\u00a016 times under\u00a0different scenarios \u2013 pitting NATO against\u00a0Russia. All scenarios were favorable to\u00a0NATO. All simulations yielded the same victor: Russia.\u201d \u00a0\u2014 Pepe Escobar<\/strong><\/em>
\n<\/span><\/h5>\n
Nobody needs to read Zbigniew \u201cGrand Chessboard\u201d Brzezinski\u2019s 1997 opus to know US foreign policy revolves around one single overarching theme: prevent \u2013 by all means necessary \u2013 the emergence of a power, or powers, capable of constraining Washington\u2019s unilateral swagger, not only in Eurasia but across the world.<\/strong><\/h5>\n
The Pentagon carries the same message embedded in\u00a0newspeak: the Full Spectrum Dominance doctrine<\/strong>.<\/h5>\n
Syria is leading all these assumptions to\u00a0collapse like\u00a0a house of\u00a0cards. So no wonder in\u00a0a Beltway under\u00a0no visible chain of\u00a0command \u2013 the Obama administration barely qualifies as\u00a0lame duck \u2013 angst is the norm.<\/h5>\n
The Pentagon is now engaged in\u00a0a Vietnam-style escalation of\u00a0boots on\u00a0the ground across \u201cSyraq\u201d. 50 commandos are already in\u00a0northern Syria \u201cadvising\u201d the YPG Syrian Kurds as\u00a0well as\u00a0a few \u201cmoderate\u201d Sunnis. Translation: telling them what Washington wants them to\u00a0do. The official White House spin is that these commandos \u201csupport local forces\u201d (Obama\u2019s words) in\u00a0cutting off\u00a0supply lines leading to\u00a0the fake \u201cCaliphate\u201d capital, Raqqa.<\/h5>\n
Another 200 Special Forces sent to\u00a0Iraq will soon follow, allegedly to \u201cengage in\u00a0direct combat\u201d against\u00a0the leadership of\u00a0ISIS\/ISIL\/Daesh, which is now ensconced in\u00a0Mosul.<\/h5>\n
These developments, billed as \u201cefforts\u201d to \u201cpartially re-engage in\u00a0Iraq and Syria\u201d are leading US Think Tankland to\u00a0pen hilarious reports in\u00a0search of \u201cthe perfect balance between\u00a0wide-scale invasion and complete disengagement\u201d \u2013 when everyone knows Washington will never disengage from\u00a0the Middle East\u2019s strategic oil wealth.<\/h5>\n
All these American boots on\u00a0the ground in\u00a0theory should be coordinating, soon, with\u00a0a new, spectacularly surrealist 34-country \u201cIslamic\u201d coalition (Iran was not invited), set up\u00a0to fight ISIS\/ISIL\/Daesh by\u00a0no less than\u00a0the ideological matrix of\u00a0all strands of\u00a0Salafi-jihadism: Wahhabi Saudi Arabia.<\/h5>\n
Syria is now Coalition Central. There are at\u00a0least four; the \u201c4+1\u201d (Russia, Syria, Iran, Iraq plus Hezbollah), which is actually fighting Daesh; the US-led coalition, a sort of\u00a0mini NATO-GCC combo, but\u00a0with the GCC doing nothing; the Russia-France direct military collaboration; and the new Saudi-led \u201cIslamic\u201d charade. They are pitted against\u00a0an astonishing number of\u00a0Salafi-jhadi coalitions and alliances of\u00a0convenience that last from\u00a0a few months to\u00a0a few hours.<\/strong><\/h5>\n
And then there\u2019s Turkey, which under\u00a0Sultan Erdogan plays a vicious double game.<\/h5>\n
Sarajevo All Over Again?<\/h5>\n
\u201cTense\u201d does not even begin to\u00a0describe the current Russia-Turkey geopolitical tension, which shows no sign of\u00a0abating. The Empire of\u00a0Chaos lavishly profits from\u00a0it as\u00a0a privileged spectator; as\u00a0long as\u00a0the tension lasts, prospects of\u00a0Eurasia integration are hampered.<\/h5>\n
Russian intel has certainly played all possible scenarios involving a\u00a0 NATO Turkish army on\u00a0the Turkish-Syrian border as\u00a0well as\u00a0the possibility of\u00a0Ankara closing the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles for\u00a0the Russian \u201cSyria Express\u201d. Erdogan may not be foolish enough to\u00a0offer Russia yet another casus belli. But Moscow is taking no chances.<\/h5>\n
Russia has placed ships and submarines capable of\u00a0launching nuclear missiles in\u00a0case Turkey under\u00a0the cover of\u00a0NATO decides to\u00a0strike out\u00a0against the Russian position. President Putin has been clear; Russia will use nuclear weapons if necessary if conventional forces are threatened.<\/h5>\n

If Ankara opts for\u00a0a suicide mission of\u00a0knocking out\u00a0yet another Su-24, or Su-34, Russia will simply clear the airspace all across\u00a0the border via\u00a0the S-400s. If Ankara under\u00a0the cover of\u00a0NATO responds by\u00a0launching the Turkish Army on\u00a0Russian positions, Russia will use nuclear missiles, drawing NATO into\u00a0war not only in\u00a0Syria but\u00a0potentially also in\u00a0Europe. And this would include using nuclear missiles to\u00a0keep Russian strategic use of\u00a0the Bosphorus open.<\/strong><\/h4>\n
That\u2019s how we can draw a parallel of\u00a0Syria today as\u00a0the equivalent of\u00a0Sarajevo 1914.<\/h5>\n

Let Me Take You on\u00a0a Missile Cruise<\/h5>\n
The Pentagon is very much aware of\u00a0the tremendous heavy metal Russia may unleash if provoked to\u00a0the limit by\u00a0someone like\u00a0Erdogan. Let\u2019s roll out\u00a0an abridged list.<\/h5>\n

Russia can use the mighty SS-18 \u2013 which NATO codenames \u201cSatan\u201d; each \u201cSatan\u201d carries 10 warheads, with\u00a0a yield of\u00a0750 to\u00a01000 kilotons each, enough to\u00a0destroy an area the size of\u00a0New York state.<\/strong><\/h5>\n
The Topol M ICBM is the world\u2019s fastest missile at\u00a021 Mach (16,000 miles an hour); against\u00a0it, there\u2019s no defense. Launched from\u00a0Moscow, it hits New York City in\u00a018 minutes, and L.A. in\u00a022.8 minutes.<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Russian submarines \u2013 as\u00a0well as\u00a0Chinese submarines \u2013 are able to\u00a0launch offshore the US, striking coastal targets within\u00a0a minute. Chinese submarines have surfaced next to\u00a0US aircraft carriers undetected, and Russian submarines can do the same.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/blockquote>\n

APOCALYPSE \u00a0WOW!<\/strong><\/p>\n

It takes 18 minutes for an ICBM missile from Moscow to hit New York<\/strong><\/h3>\n
The S-500 anti-missile system is capable of\u00a0sealing Russia off\u00a0from ICBMs and cruise missiles. (Moscow will only admit on\u00a0the record that the S-500s will be rolled out\u00a0in 2016; but\u00a0the fact the S-400s will soon be delivered to\u00a0China implies the S-500s may be already\u00a0\u00a0 operational.)<\/h5>\n
The S-500 makes the Patriot missile look like\u00a0a V-2 from\u00a0WWII.<\/h5>\n
Here, a former adviser to\u00a0the US Chief of\u00a0Naval Operations essentially goes on\u00a0the record saying the whole US missile defense apparatus is worthless.<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Russia has a supersonic bomber fleet of\u00a0Tupolev Tu-160s; they can take off\u00a0from airbases deep in\u00a0the heart of\u00a0Russia, fly over\u00a0the North Pole, launch nuclear-tipped cruise missiles from\u00a0safe distances over\u00a0the Atlantic, and return home to\u00a0watch the whole thing on\u00a0TV.<\/h5>\n

NUCLEAR \u00a0HOLOCAUST<\/b><\/h3>\n

It takes 23 minutes for an ICBM missile from Moscow to hit Los Angeles<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Russia can cripple virtually every forward NATO base with\u00a0tactical \u2013 or battlefield \u2013 small-yield nuclear weapons. It\u2019s not by\u00a0accident that Russia over\u00a0the past\u00a0few months tested NATO response times in\u00a0multiple occasions.<\/h5>\n
The Iskander missile travels at\u00a0seven times the speed of\u00a0sound with\u00a0a range of\u00a0400 km. It\u2019s deadly to\u00a0airfields, logistics points and other stationary infrastructure along\u00a0a broad war theatre, for\u00a0instance in\u00a0southern Turkey.<\/h5>\n
NATO would need to\u00a0knock out\u00a0all these Iskanders. But then they would need to\u00a0face the S-400s \u2013 or, worse, S-500s\u00a0\u2014 which Russia can layer in\u00a0defense zones in\u00a0nearly every conceivable theater of\u00a0war. Positioning the S-400s in\u00a0Kaliningrad, for\u00a0instance, would cripple all NATO air operations deep inside\u00a0Europe.<\/h5>\n
And presiding over\u00a0military decisions, Russia privileges the use of\u00a0Reflexive Control (RC). This is a tactic that aims to\u00a0convey selected information to\u00a0the enemy that forces him into\u00a0making self-defeating decisions; a sort of\u00a0virus influencing and controlling his decision-making process. <\/strong><\/h5>\n
Russia uses RC tactically, strategically and geopolitically. A young Vladimir Putin learned all there is to\u00a0know about\u00a0RC at\u00a0the 401st KGB School and further on\u00a0in his career as\u00a0a KGB\/FSB officer.<\/h5>\n

All right, Erdogan and NATO; do you still wanna go to\u00a0war?<\/h3>\n
