What follows is prime mainstream media disinformation disguised as journalism. To conceal this hard facts are interwoven with pointed omissions and outright lies.<\/h5>\n
This is evident in two key points in the article that follows.<\/h5>\n

The Director and sole employee of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdu Rahman, reports on the situation in Syria from his house in Coventry, England.<\/p><\/div>\n

Firstly it claims that “critics point out that his (Assad’s) bombing raids have killed many thousands more Syrian civilians than Isis<\/a><\/span>“. Pointedly the Guardian doesn’t name who these critics are but a little research reveals the source of this claim. It is none other than the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (SOHR), a suspected disinformation outlet run by a Syrian expatriate, who hasn’t returned to his homeland in nearly 20 years.<\/h5>\n
In fact Rami Abdul Rahman, the SOHR’s sole employee and editor rarely strays far from his house in Coventry, England<\/a><\/span>.<\/h5>\n
But perhaps an even more telling omission in the following comes when it claims that Syria is “buying oil from ISIS”. We honestly don’t know whether Syria is buying oil from ISIS but Israel is suspected of doing so and this is not mentioned.<\/h5>\n
The Guardian also pointedly omits to mention that Turkish President Erdogan’s son is also buying oil from ISIS<\/a><\/span>. In a very lucrative trade that the corporate media seems at pains to ignore.<\/h5>\n
In fact Russian air strikes have been targeting convoys of tankers in Syria <\/a><\/span>in an effort to stop this trade, which is used to finance ISIS campaigns on the ground. What follows is yet another example of how the corporate Western media now interlards hard facts, in this instance President Putin’s warning that Russia is ready to step up its involvement in Syria, with outright disinformation. Vladimir Putin<\/a> has warned that Russia is ready to to scale up its military intervention in Syria, less than a day after Moscow signed off on an ambitious UN plan to end the war.<\/span><\/p>\n

The peace roadmap lays out a two-year path<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to elections for a new government, starting with a January ceasefire, and marks the first time America and Russia have reached broad consensus on Syria\u2019s future after years of conflict that has cost more than 250,000 lives and made millions more into refugees.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the pact was so broad that it sidestepped one of the biggest questions at the heart of Syria\u2019s troubles, the future of President Bashar al-Assad, and several other key issues<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. It was also drawn up without consulting Assad or the opposition groups fighting him on the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

The question of whether, when and how the Syrian leader might step down will hang over any attempts to broker long-term peace. The US says he must go, while Russia<\/a> has doubled down on support for him, sending bombers, weapons and cash to support his troops.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s in control of two-thirds of the populated areas of Syria, he has not been defeated on the battlefield, he has the support of all the minorities, as well as the secular Sunnis,\u201d Peter Ford, former UK ambassador to Syria told the BBC<\/a><\/strong><\/span> after the deal was agreed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIts absurd to think that the Russians have come so far with this process only to throw Assad under the bus; it\u2019s not going to happen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Less than 24 hours after committing to peace in Syria<\/a>, Putin himself said top commanders were ready to join the bomber pilots, support forces and other Russian troops already backing up Assad on the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe see how efficiently our pilots and intelligence agents coordinate their efforts with various kinds of forces \u2013 the army, navy and aviation, how they use the most modern weapons,\u201d Reuters quoted him saying in a speech carried by local agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI want to stress that these are by far not all of our capabilities,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have more military means. And we will use them, if need be.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The deal exposes a widening gap between concerns of world powers and Syrians themselves. Diplomats and generals from Moscow to Washington are increasingly focused on containing and ultimately destroying Isis. Syrians are generally more preoccupied with Assad\u2019s fate, whether they support their leader or bitterly oppose him.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposition groups will not agree to a political transition that includes Assad<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, a senior Syrian defector representing a spectrum of opposition groups warned. Security council resolutions and a road map agreed in Geneva provide for his removal, Riad Hijab told reporters on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going into negotiations on this principle, we are not entering talks [based on] anything else. There will be no concession,\u201d said Hijab, who served as prime minister under Assad in 2012 before defecting<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Critics point out that his bombing raids have killed many thousands more Syrian civilians than Isis<\/strong><\/span>,<\/a> sometimes by using chemical weapons and often with cruelly indiscriminate barrel bombs. Many of the opposition fighters also spent time in his regime\u2019s jails, where torture is<\/a><\/strong><\/span> widespread.<\/span><\/p>\n

They also raise his apparent financial complicity with Isis, with oil purchases documented by US officials<\/a><\/strong><\/span> who recently condemned several firms for their role in the trade.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another senior Syrian exile who represents the main western-backed opposition group warned that the deadline for a January ceasefire was too ambitious, the Associated Press reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

Najib Ghadbian also said any agreement must include \u201cthe removal of all foreign troops from Syria\u201d, including Russians who have been running an airstrike campaign that has allowed Assad to make key advances.<\/span><\/p>\n

Assad\u2019s supporters argue that he is the only secular bulwark against an opposition increasingly dominated by Islamists. They warn that removing him now could bring even more chaos and violence, as the toppling of Muammar Gaddafi did in nearby Libya, a concern shared by Washington.<\/span><\/p>\n

Russia and the US have drawn somewhat closer after Moscow conceded that Assad might one day cede power, possibly to a close but less tainted ally, or if he is voted out in an election, while Washington stepped back from demands for his immediate removal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kerry said \u201ceveryone\u201d had by now realised that demanding Assad\u2019s departure up front in the process was \u201cin fact, prolonging the war\u201d, adding however that differences remain and the Syrian leader could not unite his country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Iran has also promised to line up behind Moscow<\/strong><\/span>,<\/a> in the push for a political deal to end the civil war, after Putin met Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran, a senior Iranian official told Reuters.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat was agreed was Iran and Russia will pursue one policy which will benefit Tehran, Moscow and Damascus,\u201d the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The two countries are in \u201cfull harmony over Syria and Assad\u2019s fate\u201d, a second official said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The US insistence that Assad must eventually go<\/a><\/strong><\/span> is backed by its European allies, Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations who have long insisted that Assad must go, although there are disputes about when.<\/span><\/p>\n
