out and about north London in photos to emerge over the weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">It was just last month that Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Alison Saunders, ruled that the 86-year-old was not able to stand trial because he has dementia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">House of Lords politician Lord Janner was seen out and about north London in photos to emerge over the weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">It was just last month that Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Alison Saunders, ruled that the 86-year-old was not able to stand trial because he has dementia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Ms Saunders said a new police inquiry had enough evidence to charge him with 22 offences against nine children and young people between 1969 and 1988.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">But she said it was not in the public interest to charge him because of his advanced dementia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">However, the Crown Prosecution Service has subsequently said it has tasked a barrister to give an independent assessment of the decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The QC, who has not been named and has had no previous involvement with the case, will decide if charging Janner will be in the public interest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Greville Janner, the former Leicester West MP, was originally investigated under three different police inquiries between 1991 and 2007 but never charged.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">An MP between 1970 and 1997, when he was made a peer, Janner has been accused of abusing young boys at Leicester care homes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">He and his family have always denied the allegations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Janner was diagnosed with dementia in 2009, after which he gave power of attorney to his three children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">However, it has emerged that he has voted in the House of Lords 203 times since then.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Also since his diagnosis, he has claimed more than \u00a3100,000 in allowances, was appointed to a parliamentary committee last year, and served as a company director until six days before the DPP&#8217;s ruling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a
