From unexpected drama to shocking performances, MTV\u2019s 2009 Video Music Awards managed once again to raise eyebrows and get people talking. What most people however missed is the occult meanings encoded into the VMAs. The TV event was in fact a large scale occult ceremony, complete with an initiation, a prayer and even a blood sacrifice. I might shock some people by saying this\u2026 but this \u201cunexpected\u201d event was\u2026 STAGED! There I said it. Did you ever watch a crappy reality show and had the gut feeling that the whole thing was scripted? Well, I\u2019ve got an overload of that feeling while watching that. None of the people implicated (not even Beyonce making her \u201cI can\u2019t believe this is happening\u201d face) are good actors. Furthermore, I\u2019ve been following Kanye\u2019s career since his beginnings and I\u2019ve retained one important fact about him: the only thing Kanye West cares about, is Kanye West. So if he had to throw a hissy fit about something, it would about him not winning. Not Beyonce. Him.<\/p>\n This scene is in fact Taylor Swift\u2019s initiation into what I call \u201cThe Circle of Chosen Artists\u201d. The pupil is humiliated in front of her peers and told that she is not worthy to be on the same stage as Beyonce, the queen of the ceremony. Almost all groups, fraternities and gangs carry out an initiation process to test the recruit\u2019s character, strength and worth. Swift\u2019s ordeal was have Kanye ruin her first award ever and to be told that she didn\u2019t deserve this recognition. The rapper is known for bitching during award shows so he was the perfect candidate to make it seem \u201cunexpected\u201d.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jack Black comes out dressed as a heavy metal guy<\/a> on steroids to promote a video game. At one point he asks the audience to \u201cput their devil horns in the air\u201d and the proceeds to pray to the \u201cdarklord Satan\u201d. The whole thing is light-hearted and comical but I don\u2019t see any other way a prayer to Satan can be inserted into this show without getting a truckload of complaints by \u201cconcerned parents\u201d. The scene starts off semi-funny but Jack Black finishes off on a more serious note by saying: \u201cI ask you to grant tonight\u2019s nominees with continued success in the music industry\u201c.<\/i><\/p>\n So the net result of this scene is: everybody threw up their \u201cdevil horns\u201d hand sign, everybody took each other\u2019s hands and prayed to Satan. This piece of pre-award, pre-rehearsed comedy might of been an insignificant skit in another show, but in the context of this one, with its many recreations of occult rituals, it takes a whole other meaning.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Lady Gaga\u2019s performance<\/a> was hailed as \u201cbrilliant\u201d by many music fans.
