BENJAMIN NETANYAHU:
America, you must bomb Iran for us!<\/p><\/div>\n

Addressing\u00a0AIPAC today<\/span><\/a><\/span>, and getting ready to make a speech to Congress Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted he meant \u201cno disrespect\u201d to President Obama in coming to the US to openly try to undermine his diplomatic efforts.<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Tensions\u00a0are clearly continuing to rise<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>, as Netanyahu claims Iran\u2019s \u201ctentacles of terror\u201d are enveloping the whole world while the US stands idle, and as Obama continues to support diplomacy.<\/h5>\n
Netanyahu\u2019s AIPAC speech, like so many of his speeches in recent years, centered on trying to compare Iran to Nazi Germany, and claiming that not a day goes by he doesn\u2019t worry about Israel being wiped off the map in some way or other.<\/span><\/h5>\n
Top Obama aide Susan Rice, who addressed AIPAC, defended the diplomtic process, saying Netanyahu\u2019s position of opposition to any deal is \u201cnot a viable position<\/span><\/a><\/strong>\u201d<\/span> from which to hold talks.<\/h5>\n
The Israel Lobby has been attacking Rice vociferously, with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach\u00a0running an ad over the weekend<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in the New York Times<\/em> accusing her of supporting genocide for criticizing Netanyahu.<\/h5>\n

With Israeli Prime Minister<\/strong> Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to do anything to prevent a US-Iran nuclear deal, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf today warned him against leaking the details of any classified briefings.<\/h5>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve continuously provided detailed classified briefings to Israeli officials to keep them updated,\u201d Harf said, adding that any release by Netanyahu \u201cwould, of course,<\/span> betray that trust<\/span><\/a><\/strong>.\u201d<\/h5>\n
Secretary of State John Kerry also chimed in, warning Israel\u00a0against doing anything to undercut<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>the Iran negotiations, which just resumed on Monday in Switzerland.<\/h5>\n
Netanyahu has insisted he has a \u201cmoral obligation\u201d to warn Congress about the deal, saying it threatens Israel\u2019s survival.<\/h5>\n

Political expert David Bromwich writes in Netanyahu\u2019s Takover Bid<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>:<\/h5>\n
Netanyahu announced that Iran would attack Israel within months if the US did not bomb Iran first; more than once, he said that Israel would attack Iran unassisted if Americans were blind to the emergency. But the Iranian attack on Israel has never come. The Israeli solo attack on Iran has never been tried.<\/h5>\n
Meanwhile, it has become clear that no regimen of inspection, no matter how penetrating and rigorous, could satisfy Netanyahu of an adequate Iranian compliance. What he asks is really the surrender of Iran\u2019s advanced technology: a surrender that would seal its consent to be a second-rate regional power,subordinate to the will of Israel.<\/h5>\n
Netanyahu\u2019s speech is sure to contain the following elements: the fate of the United States as well as Israel hangs in the balance. The threat from Iran is the most dire that has faced the world since the rise of Hitler.<\/h5>\n
Netanyahu will remind us again of the events of September 11, 2001<\/strong>. He will say that Israelis are uniquely equipped to sympathize with what Americans suffered then. We are still fighting the battles that began on that day.<\/h5>\n

NETANYAHU (smirks): \u201cThis is good for Israel!\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

Very possibly, since he has a low idea of the intelligence of Americans \u2014 he has already said that \u201cAmerica is a thing you can move very easily\u201d<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 the Israeli prime minister will top off the history lesson by proposing certain resemblances between the year 2015 and 1938. For Netanyahu, the place is always Munich and the time is always 1938. It was 1938 and Saddam Hussein was Hitler when Netanyahu told the US to launch the war on Iraq. It was 1938 once more when he asked Congress, on his last visit, to admire his resistance to the president\u2019s negotiation with Palestinians, because the Palestinians were an existential threat to Israel.<\/h5>\n
“When Netanyahu addressed Congress on May 24, 2011, to embarrass President Obama and cut down American criticism of the most recent illegal Israeli settlements, Congress gave him 29 standing ovations. That was a gesture of thoughtless servility, and a mistake that should not be repeated.<\/h5>\n
“Netanyahu and his backers in Congress are an existential threat to the independence of American foreign policy.”<\/h5>\n
