Why is there no middle way between amnesty and deportation? Why not give many of the 11 million “illegals” in the US “guest worker” status?

Who ever heard of a nation that flouts its own immigration laws? One that terms people who jump the queue and enter illegally “undocumented immigrants.” That grants these law-breakers “amnesty” and calls it “immigration reform.”
These policies are normally associated with the Obama Administration; but aside from the Tea Party, the GOP endorses them as well. On Monday, Jeb Bush told Fox News’ Megan Kelly that we need to show respect for illegal immigrants. We need to “fix the system so that legal immigration is easier than illegal immigration and show some respect for people.”
