Russia ex-spy death a matter for UK police-Kremlin
Reuters – November 24, 2006
The Kremlin said on Friday that the death of Russian ex-spy Alexander Litvinenko, who died on Thursday after being poisoned three weeks ago, was a tragedy but was now a matter for British police to investigate.
"The death of a person is always a tragedy. At this time, it is a matter for investigation into what happened by the law enforcement agencies in Britain, where Mr Litvinenko had been recently resident," Dmitry Peskov, deputy Kremlin spokesman, told Reuters on the margins of a European Union-Russia summit.
