Militant T-V claims 35 Israeli casualties in Lebanese border battle
News Brief – Associated Press Saturday August 5, 2006
Hezbollah (hez-BUH'-lah) T-V says Lebanese militants have killed or wounded 35 Israeli soldiers in a battle along Lebanon's border with Israel.
Al-Manar T-V says Israel hasn't been able to move wounded casualties because of the constant fire around a Lebanese border town. Hezbollah's report says its fighters ambushed the Israeli soldiers near the town's main school building.
Live footage of the battle on Arab satellite T-V shows blasts from Israeli artillery shells and black smoke rising overhead.
The ground battle waged while Israeli warplanes struck at Shiite villages and Hezbollah strongholds – targeting areas deep inside the country and civilian areas along the Mediterranean coast.
