The ArcelorMittal Orbit/Comintern/Babel Towers
Kevin Boyle – No One to Vote For April 1, 2010
So, artist Anish Kapoor has won a commission to design a 115m high public artwork at Olympic Park in London, to be built as part of London’s Olympic Games in 2012.
Look at the pictures of this monstrosity. Its form is chaotic, it is visually horrible and its scale is immense.
Why does publicly funded art always seem to violate ordinary sensibilities (that naturally recognise and appreciate beauty)? Is there any information that might explain what is obviously going on here. The public promotion of alienating ugliness.
Sharks in urine, piss-Christ, Gilbert & George’s ‘religious’ art made out of their own excrement. Enough already.
MONUMENT TO THE THIRD INTERNATIONAL
It seems that Kapoor's structure is more-or-less a scaled down copy of a “Monument to the Third International" designed in Russia in 1920 but never built. Here is a picture of a model of the original.
"The Third International" was also known as "The Comintern”.
The Comintern was an international communist organisation that held as their stated aim to fight “by all available means, including armed force, for the overthrow of the international bourgeoisie and for the creation of an international Soviet republic as a transition stage to the complete abolition of the State.”
So the London monstrosity looks like a commemoration, tribute or, perhaps, first birth of this imagined Soviet statement of intent?
THE TOWER OF BABEL
The Comintern Tower itself seems to have been modelled on artists' depictions of the 'Tower of Babel'.
The Tower of Babel was an enormous tower built at the city of Babylon, a cosmopolitan city typified by a confusion of languages, to signify the "beginning" of Nimrod's kingdom. This tower was not built for the worship and praise of God, but was instead dedicated to the glory of man, to "make a name" for the builders: "And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth." (Genesis 11:4). The Book of Genesis then relates how God, displeased with the builders' intent, came down and confused their languages and scattered the people throughout the earth.
THE ARCELORMITTAL ORBIT
Any huge project such as the ArcelorMittal Orbit is an initiative coming down from the highest level of embedded state power. This is not a New Labour whim. This initiative must have emanated from a source placed within some corporate/banking-funded think-tank.
Thus do oligarchs spit in our face.
On the bright side we notice that one progenitor of Kapoor's tower was never completed and the building of the other was never even started. Nevertheless, by projects like this our masters signal their intent.
‘Globalism’ is coming. Nation states, like our own, will disappear. The whole earth will be administered by a central authority controlled, inevitably, by those who have succeeded in usurping power by extracting from our elected governments the power to create our money out of nothing. The usurers, whose activities were banned from our islands for more than 1000 years, are on the point of taking the whole earth.
If it was Christianity that forbade money-lending with interest, then it had good reason. What we are moving towards is global satanism. We will all be subject to the tender mercies of the international bankers.
Already our elected politicians are merely managing agents for these people. Have you not noticed that ours is already a one-party state with no significant differences between the policies of the three media-promoted parties? Have you not noticed that the staggering losses recently incurred by the banks have been transferred to us, while the money we have ‘borrowed’ from them (at interest) to give back to them (how corrupted and owned are we to allow such a thing?) has been used as a source of private profiteering.
Returning to the tower. This project triumphantly violates our inner God-given sense of beauty and balance. It states loudly and openly its victory over Logos, the Christ, the spirit of truth, love, justice and reason, that our hearts naturally hold dear (even though our minds have been conditioned not to recognise it). We are being conditioned to accept all that jars with and offends our inborn instincts.
Once we are habituated into acceptance of this feeling will we resignedly accept the situation when the state send their officers round to take away our children, or command us to accept sterilisation or order any other of a million imaginable dehumanising horrors?
We already accept an education system and media that forbids discussion about the nature of and the creation of our core culture, which is debt.
We have accepted the lies about 9/11 and 7/7 and international terrorism, never even forcefully demanding proper Public Inquiries into these issues. We have sent our troops to war on the basis of lies. We fill in the forms, learn to live with the airport scanners, accept the subordination of our children's wellbeing to the principle of corporate profitability. We no no longer stop and ask, "What is society for?" This is someone else's business.
Well, shame on us.
The aesthetic and spiritual violation that the 'ArcelorMittal Orbit' project represents needs to be recognised as an open statement, revelation and precursor of more horrible violations to come.
Be warned.
P.S. The ArcelorMittal Orbit dovetails, as a 'meaningless' 2012 state-commissioned frivolity, rather neatly with the 2012 Olympic logo.....don't you think?
