Operation Paperclip and the Ho-IX

Pictured below: the Ho-IX, a top-secret German aircraft that was operational, in small numbers, by the end of World War 2.

Below: the Ho-IX in late 1944. In the aftermath of World War 2 many top Nazis were to go to the U.S. and work in their chosen fields there. Some like Wernher von Braun, one of NASA’s founders, ultimately became famous. Most though were smuggled over covertly in an operation known as ‘Operation Paperclip’ and remained relatively unknown. Could the scientists and technology behind the Ho-IX also have been secretly brought to the U.S and the technology still further developed? In the light of cold war rivalry it’s a serious possibility.
