News Commentary – October 3, 2006
The BBC broadcast a documentary Sunday night, which claimed that Pope Benedict XVI was implicated in the cover-up of child sex abuse allegations against Catholic priests.
Before becoming pope the then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger enforced a "secret Vatican decree which sheltered the perpetrators and silenced the victims", the BBC’s
Sex crmes and the Vatican claimed.
The decree was contained in a 1962 document Crimen Sollicitationis, which advised senior clergymen how to handle priests who "solicit or provoke the penitent toward impure and obscene matters", according to a BBC translation.
Moreover, the original document imposed an oath of secrecy on victims, witnesses and those probing abuse claims; threatening that anyone breaking it would be excommunicated, so the program claimed.
Father Tom Doyle, a canon solicitor reportedly sacked by the Vatican after criticising its handling of child abuse claims, told Panorama that the document was "an explicit written policy to cover up cases of child sexual abuse by the clergy, to punish those who would call attention to these crimes by the churchmen."
The program provoked an angry response from the Catholic Church.
The Archbishop of Birmingham, the Most Reverend Vincent Nichols, charged that Panorama used Vatican documents "quite misleadingly in order to connect the horrors of child abuse to the person of the pope."
Nonetheless, according to Father Tom Doyle: "It's all controlled by the Vatican and at the top of the Vatican is the pope so Joseph Ratzinger was in the middle of this for most of the years that Crimen was enforced.
"The pope could "tomorrow" order that the church take strong action against those accused of child sex scandals and co-operate with legal proceedings" Doyle continued.
Colm O’Gorman, who was abused by a priest as a boy and is now director of an Irish charity that assists those who have been sexually abused, presented the programme. According to O’Gorman: "What gets me is it's the same story every time and every place. Bishops appoint priests that they know have abused children in the past to new parishes and new communities and more abuse happens."
Panorama also claimed to have found seven priests facing child abuse investigations living in and around Vatican City.
However, it would be a mistake to think that BBC’s Panorama is helping expose the truth in this matter. In fact, in a manner of speaking, it may even be doing the devil a favour.
As Piers Compton author of the
Broken Cross and as
Malachi Martin, the late Secretary of Cardinal Augustine Bea, have pointed out: the Vatican has long been a target of infiltration by darker forces. The ultimate object has been to neutralise and ultimately bring down a bastion that stood in the way of the expansion of satanic power.
Part of this has involved infiltrating and gradually promoting adherents of darker forces within the ranks of the clergy. Sometimes this may have included promoting those who were consciously serving satan but it may also have included those who were beholden to their own perverted lusts.
For in a manner of speaking the sexually perverted are the “foot soldiers” of satanic power: ignorant but effectively helping to spread its power.
This may not be “politically correct” but it’s no coincidence that so many satanic rituals involve perverted sexuality. This is because unrefined spiritual energy flows through the body’s spiritual centres, the chakras, and manifests in normal sexual drives.
However perverted sexual practises, particularly anal intercourse, reverse the flow of this energy: inverting latent potential and opening those involved to the influence of much darker, degenerate spiritual powers. In plain language: demonic influence.
So why is the BBC doing these “darker forces” a favour, you ask?
Because it is only telling one side of the story and as they say: a half-truth is as bad as a lie. The BBC did the same thing with Princess Diana's death and the arrest and incarceration of MI6 officer Richard Tomlinson, reporting both events without ever mentioning
Tomlinson's affidavit on Diana's death.
With Sex crimes and the Vatican the BBC’s helping to accelerate the Catholic Church’s decline. But crucially, by not examining the real forces behind this decline the BBC is helping to compound the public's ignorance.
Panorama portrayed the whole subject as if it were solely the outcome of human weakness and not the result demonic inversion.
It’s a classic one-two punch prior to a knockout blow.
First demonic forces infiltrate and corrupt an institution that stood in their way. Then the BBC exposes the corruption – without saying anything about what was really behind it, thereby sealing the Vatican's demise as a spiritual power while perpetuating ignorance about the real forces behind it.
But this has become something of a BBC trademark. It's not so much what the BBC reports but what it omits to mention that's important. For example, prior to the invasion of Iraq there was endless BBC reporting and speculation about Iraq's supposed Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Except there weren't any but the BBC's repeated references to Iraq's WMD helped gain the public's grudging acceptance of an otherwise unpopular invasion.
Like so much of the mainstream media, the BBC’s news coverage often serves another agenda with the truth being a secondary consideration.
