The Guardian reported recently that the suicide bombers who killed 52 people in attacks on London's transport network on July 7 triggered the blasts by hand rather than by mobile phones as previously reported.
Citing unidentified senior police and anti-terrorism sources, the Guardian said the four British Muslims who blew themselves up on three trains and a bus used "button-like" devices to set off the bombs.
"There were no mobile phone timers on (July 7)," the newspaper quoted one source as saying. "They were manually activated."
Although police declined to comment on the report, the newspaper described the discovery as a breakthrough in the investigation into the bombings.
However, claims of manual detonation were in contrast to New York's police chief Raymond Kelly who had earlier said three of the bombs were probably detonated by mobile phones.
Indeed investigations into the July 7th bombings have been marked by official statements, often contradictory and at odds with one another. Just as police and station managers are currently at odds over CCTV footage of Jean Charles de Menezes, the Brazilian man shot by armed police after being identified as a “suicide bomber”
(1); with police and tube station authorities contradicting each other over whether platform CCTV cameras were actually working at the time of the shooting.
Likewise, police initially said they had no “hard evidence”
(2) that the July7th blasts were the work of suicide bombers. But that too changed after “evidence” emerged that they were the result of suicide attacks. Or at least that’s what the mainstream media was reporting at the time.
We’ve said it before, but the official version of events changes so much now that’s almost as if a team of screenwriters were rewriting an ongoing storyline: the end-result being to keep a bewildered public in suspense and disorientated.
So could it be that behavioural scientists are indeed scripting events with the intention of keeping the public bewildered and confused? Seriously. This is not just some wild speculation because over the past few years a Special Warfare unit has been established at Fort Bragg, N.C.
(3). With methods and procedures developed and used on prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, it is deeply involved in Mind War programs and experimentation with psychological warfare techniques.
The ultimate objective of these programs, say insiders, is to stimulate acute anxiety. Which is why detainees at Guantanamo are kept hooded, so as to keep them unaware of where they are and whom they are with. Thus generating an air of unease in the detainees.
Another way to stimulate acute anxiety is to create an environment of radical uncertainty. This, say insiders, makes detainees feel more insecure and thus easier to control.
Which prompts this writer to wonder if the often-contradictory statements from the authorities are being made with the same intent? With so many different and conflicting official and semi-official statements one has to ask whether this is indeed the case. Could it be that the mainstream media is being feed different, often contradictory lines on the same topics, which it then dutifully broadcasts as “news”, and which has the desired effect of generating further public anxiety and confusion?
Admittedly, this may sound a little extreme but we live in times fraught with uncertainty and danger. So it’s worth asking whether this is actually happening. Just ask yourself that question the next time you hear an official line that’s at odds with what others have said.
