In Ancient China there was a saying: "May you live in interesting times." It was as much a curse as anything, in much the same way as we now say: “go to hell.” But sometimes the most difficult times are the most interesting and the most rewarding too. They challenge us, they test us, and occasionally they can even bring out the best in us. So the saying was as much a blessing as a curse. And the times we are living in are nothing if not interesting. To fully appreciate that one has to look beyond the mainstream media, because once you do a whole new landscape emerges, one that is distinctly different from the world as portrayed by our “free press.”
Hopefully this web site reflects just how “interesting” and exciting the times we are living in actually are. For example, as we detail in ‘The Final Countdown’: what the hell are British aristocrats, European nobility and Freemasons doing atop Temple Mount in Jerusalem? It’s a good question, particularly in the light of the current unrest in Israel’s occupied territories, and it’s one that the mainstream media have carefully avoided looking at, let alone asking. Hopefully “The Final Countdown” proffers some answers to that question.
In counterpoint this web site also features interviews with Professor Norman Finkelstein, author of the “Holocaust Industry.” Funny, observant and audaciously honest Professor Finkelstein has stirred some controversy with his new book and in the process helped coin a new insult. Being Jewish has made it a bit difficult for critics to deride him as “anti-Semitic” and as he is obviously not a racist that doesn’t apply either. So instead, critics have come up with a new label for Finkelstein: he’s not “anti-Semitic” or “racist,” he is a . . . “Self Hating Jew.”
Fortunately Finkelstein has enough common sense and sheer good humour to dismiss this. Like several individuals associated with this publication he comes from a Jewish background but is enough of an individual not to be trapped by his ethnic identity.
It’s a dilemma that faces each of us in some way. Each one of us belongs to some ethnic group or other and, to some extent, each one of us is a prisoner of his or her racial identity; how much our own individuality becomes submerged beneath the larger collective ethnic identity depends on how clearly defined our sense of individuality actually is. It’s exactly the sort of thing that Hitler took advantage of with his talk of an “Aryan Master Race,” where individual Germans were expected to sacrifice their conscience as individuals for the benefit of the greater good: the Fatherland or the Volk.
Today others do the same as Hitler, although their tactics are somewhat different; instead of emphasising supposed racial superiority they focus on alleged racial persecution. Despite this apparent difference the end results are the same: a reinforced sense of racial identity that the controllers then harness for their own purposes.
All of which helps explain why Finkelstein has come in for such fierce criticism. The fact is that he’s challenging a system of control, in this case a sense of ethnic identity and the means to impose that sense of identity. And the controlling powers don’t like that. After all if everybody were like Finkelstein and began thinking, not as Jews or Blacks or Whites but as individuals, the controlling power would be severely weakened. Hence the storm of criticism that has greeted Finkelstein and the twisted logic behind accusations that he is a… “Self Hating Jew.”
