As the prescient Edmund Burke once said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” He also said, “No passion so effectually robs the mind of all its powers of acting and reasoning as fear.” He and I share a common view on a particular phenomenon as best expressed in these two quotes; “Society cannot exist unless a controlling power upon will and appetite be placed somewhere, and the less of it there is within, the more there must be without.” AND… “Men are qualified for civil liberty in exact proportion to their disposition to put moral chains upon their own appetites.” This runs in parallel with my own observation; “You become a slave when you cease to be your own master.” This is the sort of thing that’s going on these days. People are losing control over their appetites. They are losing control over the operation of their minds. Their capacity for objective reasoning has gone south; way south. Their vision is impaired, which means they drive faster than usual. They can’t hear very well because… what they are hearing goes contrary to what they want to hear.
I can’t say that I’m all that (or didn’t used to be) better off than most. My vision is not impaired and i can hear very well. My body doesn’t run the show, which I would consider a real horror story. I don’t know how people can feel at all safe around themselves when their body is dictating their needs AND… if you can’t feel safe around yourself… shudder.
However may be the case in all of that, I’ve made any number of stupid moves in my life in the past. The fact that I didn’t have any choice most of the time doesn’t make me feel any better. Ah well… I’m being a tad disingenuous, I feel fine about myself. Forgiveness is a personal specialty. Being forgiven, however, that’s sometimes a mystery, especially when very little to no damage was done to anything except people’s perceptions, which was the point in the first place. Some might attribute these things to some kind of personal problem (grin). If that were the case, it would show up in my home court but it doesn’t; qualifying for an enigma wrapped in a mystery.
On the subject of forgiveness, possessing this virtue means that several other, unexpected capabilities, come along… like attendants, like handmaidens. If you can forgive all and send resentment packing, there is a freedom most remarkable. Strangely enough, something that expedites acquiring forgiveness, is to be found in one’s daily offenses, both to and fro, both from you and upon you. How’s that? you ask… it’s kinda like ‘catch and release’. Should you say or do something, or should the same happen to you… let it go immediately as you think about it. Do not let the sun go down on your anger, “let not the sun go down upon your wrath.” (you find so many things in the Bible). Here’s something that should be obvious; you carry with you what you carry with you. That should be crystal clear but… many of us carry significant burdens with us. It’s known as the past. Yogananda once said something like; “take all your sorrows and regrets, dreams and aspirations, put them in a bag and throw the bag into the ocean.” Always remember, “He who cannot forgive breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass.”  What is the most common fear? It is fear of the unknown. How is fear of the unknown affected when one accomplishes self discovery? Some of us may have already achieved self discovery, we simply don’t recognize it. That’s something to think about.
Death is one of those looming unknowns but… what can you do about it? That seems quite simple to me too; find the one who authored your existence… “I died as a mineral and became a plant, I died as plant and rose to animal, I died as animal and I was Man. Why should I fear? When was I less by dying?” -Jalaluddin Rumi.
Fear of the unknown makes us distrustful. As children, depending on our circumstances; for the purpose of argument, let us say… as a child you have total trust. Life compromises this. How you adjust to that has a great deal to do with how you continue in life. Is your life about business, or is your business your life?
There are any number of places I could have chosen to go. There are all kinds of dangers wrapped in beauty; how Lady Nature has expressed herself, in conjunction with however she has been changed and affected by those who have built their habitations out of alterations to her. One has to think in terms of cultural similarities. The exception to this is to be rich. There was a time I would have jumped into the wind, would have done and did. I am no longer so precipitate. Besides what I have pending, whatever presents itself- and it will- will be an affluent circumstance and not just in a financial sense but in the sense that the financial end of it is simply one of those attendants and handmaidens. The certainty of existence lies in ones certitude of being.
“The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” faith is not unlike a boat. One has only to consider the condition of all boats. Some are not seaworthy. Some are very seaworthy. The condition of our boat rests upon the condition of our faith and… if there were ever a time that this would be of critical importance, that time is now. Think of yourself as Noah but rather than bringing a pair of every animal on board. bring the qualities that make the boat seaworthy and which provides state of the art navigation, as well as full time radar capability; that provides the miraculous as the commonplace; that unleashes the magical sight. Why has life become shades of gray, oppressive, heavy? Why is the constantly appearing magic of existence not seen? This is what the enemy does. This is one of the enemies major weapons. It is ‘the job’ of the enemy to kill your faith, ‘or’ strengthen your resolve from the challenge. Perseverance will generate regenerated innocence and the result of that is the automatic restoration of the magical eye, which perceives the magic and beauty of life. Don’t believe this? It’s not my problem. This is another thing that needs to be released. You do what you can and then you continue on. Leave good footprints. All will be revealed to those with eyes to see.
I was supposed to be posted on certain websites until I was not supposed to be; no harm done and no harm remembered. However, I cannot account for how others see it because their access to forgiveness is not the same as my own or certain thoughts would never have occurred to their minds.
This is where the concepts of ‘mirroring’ and ‘projection’ come from. A great deal of the time, people see your behavior as the likely expression of their own, when it is not. The more clearly you see yourself, the more obvious this observation becomes.
People think that masters don’t get angry, don’t experience the emotions we all experience. Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s a lot like the idea that you have to kill the ego. There’s all kinds of false information that’s out there and some people have serious investments in them. When you challenge their attachments to what they think they know, they react. One should always be capable of reassessing what they believe. If you can’t do this, you have a serious inertia on your upward course.
Masters do get angry. They feel everything we feel, they just don’t attach to any continuance of it. This is why I completely forget about any reactions I may have to certain comments, just as quickly as it comes to mind, which is near immediate. In my mind, if anything is true it will stick and if if is not it will pass on. The Holy Guardian Angel handles every last bit of business you hand over to it. If you want to handle it yourself, well, there you go. I don’t want to handle it myself, this much I have learned in convincing fashion. I’ve seen masters get angry and I’ve seen them say all kinds of things, for the purpose of demonstration. If you bear Love in your thoughts, that Love will bear out in your words and actions, regardless of near field time perceptions. It’s further up the road that this bears out. Don’t carry with you anything unnecessary. Furthermore, let everything go except your Love and the only things that will actually leave, will be those things not magnetically resonant with Love. Love sees everything and everyone as they truly are. Love does not burden itself with what it cannot change in the near field. Love knows that everything gets resolved in its own time. There’s no need for you to be attached to any of it. Before you know it, you can be in a theater of conflicting opposites, or… you can permit the conflicts to resolve themselves. Even if they continue for others, they will not continue for you; in this world of your own creation.
What is being angled for here is not some reverse engineered mea culpa on my behalf. What is taking place is ‘variations on a theme concerning personal performance’; variations on ways of thinking as they affect perception. If we are prone to error and… all of us are… and if regret is an automatic response to perceived mistakes, which are simply one more addition to the reservoir of guilt, you can count yourself as a victim of yourself, at the mercy of one of the world’s biggest industries; guilt. Making us hate ourselves drives the hamster wheel. Never imagine the hamster wheel is stationary. It drives downward, which would conform with the laws of physics. Nothing has to be the way that it is. The way things are, is the result of the way we are, “The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.”
