Hunger Games becomes reality: Child suspended for using imaginary bow and arrow at school

JD Heyes — Natural News Dec 19, 2013

The PC police and progressive stooges have long taken over the nation’s public school systems, and the result has been a complete disaster.

Not only have these idiots led our education system down a path of sustained decline – a fact which almost no one discusses – but they have turned our schools into havens of nonsensical tyranny while transforming our children into mind-numbed robots of conformity.

The latest outrage, as reported by Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper:

A 10-year-old boy was suspended after he pretended to shoot an imaginary bow and arrow at his classmate, the family’s attorney said this week.

Johnny Jones was disciplined after he playfully responded to his friend’s imaginary gun duel during class in October, by making an imaginary bow and arrow using his pencil.

Johnny was reported by a girl in his class at the South Eastern School District West in Pennsylvania.

It’s all ‘zero-tolerance,’ you see

A fake bow-and-arrow. In response to an “imaginary gun duel.”

This sort of stuff used to happen all the time on school playgrounds during recess, not just in class. But no more; the lunatics are running the asylum.

According to the Mail, the boy and his friend were lectured by the teacher. Following the lecture, the 10-year-old and his friend were summarily suspended for one day, an action that has become part of their permanent school record.

Why? Well, the school district has a “zero-tolerance policy” against “weapons” – even if there aren’t any actual weapons used.

The boy’s parents aren’t taking this foolishness lying down. They have secured legal representation through the Rutherford Institute; its founder, constitutional attorney John W. Whitehead, has taken the case personally.

“We all want to keep the schools safe, but I’d far prefer to see something credible done about actual threats, rather than this ongoing, senseless targeting of imaginary horseplay,” he told the Mail.

In accordance with the parents’ wishes, Whitehead’s Rutherford Institute has demanded that the boy’s suspension be expunged from his record, at the very least. So far, the school district hasn’t budged.

The Mail reported:

According to the South Eastern School District’s Zero Tolerance policy for ‘Weapons, Ammunition and other Hazardous Items’ the school bans possession of guns, knives and other instruments that can be used to harm.

It also bans students from carrying replica or lookalike weapons – but makes no mention of the imaginary.

Whitehead has written extensively about the PC craziness that has gripped America’s public education system. In a recent column where he mentioned Johnny Jones, Whitehead prefaced the piece this way:

It wouldn’t be a week in America without another slew of children being punished for childish behavior under the regime of zero tolerance which plagues our nation’s schools. Here are some of the latest incidents.

Public schools – or prison compounds?

In the same piece, Whitehead provides more evidence of insanity in our public schools:

– In Utah, a seven-year-old boy was arrested and berated by police because he ran away from school. He showed up at his mother’s house later, prompting her to call the school and let officials there know she had him. The principle, however, decided to call police – for some reason. “An officer arrived at the house, told the boy to “straighten up,” took him outside, handcuffed him, and yelled at him saying, “Is this the life you want?” Whitehead wrote.

– In Colorado, a six-year-old boy was suspended and accused of sexual harassment for kissing the hand of a girl in his class whom he had a crush on. Again, the boy is six. Due to negative publicity school district officials changed the offense from “sexual harassment” to simple “misconduct.” What champs.

– In New York, three students were arrested while waiting for a bus to arrive and take them to a basketball scrimmage. They were part of a group of 12 ball players who were waiting on the sidewalk, per their coach’s instructions.

Are public schools institutions of learning or prisons? It’s getting harder to tell, thanks to the insanity of the “progressive” PC crowd.
