Air Guardsman dies in Christmas Day stabbing

An Air National Guardsman died in a stabbing incident on Christmas Day, according to a report in the Buffalo (N.Y.) News. Senior Airman Lisa Riccione, 20, was a member of the 107th Air Refueling Wing, based at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, according to a 107th spokesman.

Riccione was found dead in her room having suffered multiple stab wounds, with a knife found nearby, the News quoted Riccione’s father, Peter Riccione, as saying. According to the News, Peter Riccione said Lisa joined the Guard in 2006 for a six-year tour, and had volunteered to go to Iraq if needed.

The News reported that Buffalo police investigating the incident have not determined whether it was a homicide or suicide. Buffalo police did not immediately reply to Air Force Times’ requests for comment.
